This is Charles Jaco on CNN “reporting live” on the Gulf War in 1990: (warm up at first — actual broadcast around 3:20)

This example of one of the most fabricated news sets in history is just to point out that in a better world, one in which power, control and money weren’t the primary factors in motivation of those in positions of influence or leadership, we might be able to put more trust into the information given to us by media outlets.
“Terrorism is the best political weapon for nothing drives people harder than a fear of sudden death”.
— Adolph Hitler
“Why of course the people don’t want war … But after all it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship … Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.”
— Hermann Goering, Nazi leader.
“The easiest way to gain control of a population is to carry out acts of terror. [The public] will clamor for such laws if their personal security is threatened”.
— Josef Stalin
“In individuals, insanity is rare; but in groups, parties, nations, and epochs it is the rule.”
― Friedrich Nietzsche
“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”
― Joseph Goebbels
The purpose of sharing this isn’t to cause panic or controversy, just to share a perspective. Peace is within reach of every human being, and it can come through an understanding of our connection with each other. What connects us will always be greater than what appears to separate us. With love and fearlessness, we can start creating our own good news in the world.
