"The APS was developed to measure individual differences in what people enjoy about visual art. It measures three scales, two that are applicable to the style of the work and one that is applicable to the content of the work."

Even though I missed some Modern and Contemporary pieces, I found it to be really interesting! ^^

    Scores Explanation
Scores on each scale range from -16 to +16.

    • Your score for Linear vs. Painterly was -2. This indicates you have a small preference for linear works over painterly ones. In linear works, the artists depicts clear shapes bounded by lines and attempts to achieve photorealism. This contrasts with a painterly style where the brush strokes will be visible.
    • Your score for Realistic vs. Abstract was 1. This indicates you have a small preference for abstract works.
    • Your score for Masculine vs. Feminine was 7. This indicates that you have a moderate preference for works of art that depict subjects stereotypically of interest to females (e.g. women in dresses, etc.) as opposed to subjects stereotypically associated with males (e.g. fighting, machines, ships, architecture, etc.).

The problem with this test is that you can find "Painterly" art that's way less shitty than their examples

Its weird. On half of these sorts of tests I come out strongly feminine, yet sometimes like this I come out strongly masculine. I'm either highly in balance or high in conflict. Not sure which.

I can't stand much abstract stuff to be fair. Its that madness that leads to a glass of water on a shelf or a banana strapped to a wall being called art...

I want sometime real, something that takes effort and takes me somewhere, and not just 5 minutes and a roll of duck tape.

  16. Interesting. I think this told me just how much I love chiaroscuro - I think that was the real determiner of my choices, rather than whatever indices the test designers were trying to measure. @Asa what do you think of this test?

EDIT: Curious that only myself and Gaze landed in the 'Linear-Abstract' quadrant.
