  • all things considered, pretty decent.

being social sounds kind of nice.

    glad to hear you're well.
oh nice, how far along are you in school and how do you feel about it? i've always fantasized about what it would be like to work in advertising, not trying to sound egotistical but i always thought i would be good at it. often when i watch commercials i try to pick the ones that i think are the best at achieving their goal wtv that may be which i also try to figure out and what makes them good at it. its like we see these pictures so quickly, theres so much going on that i feel most people don't realize just how much work and insight goes into the 15 second clip we see.

haha you know i don't remember that he spelled civilized wrong but now that you say that i'd bet you're right about the correlation there, and perfectly fitting might i add to the tone of the book. as far as catcher in the rye goes i couldn't agree more about holden's inability to understand certain emotional aspects of himself, and i think its why i related to it so well. i would think him to be a classic infj 4 ennea type. i notice you posted your own ennea type, do you follow enneagram?

you listed one of my favorites btw, flowers for algernon. unfortunately i haven't read any of the others, but i'd agree discussing and speculating are half the fun with fiction classics. some of my fav are the outsiders, steppenwolf, farenheit 451 (oddly enough, not normally my style) so do you read any modern fiction?
yep you're right i play drums, my band plays mostly post grunge ara stuff like what you'd hear on most modern rock stations nowadays (unoriginal and uninspired lol). good news is im not relying on them to take me anywhere though im trying to make it big through competition. you mentioned writing papers, are you in college? if so what are you going for?

catcher in the rye is one of my favorites too, and i couldn't agree more about the inner guilt these two felt towards their decisions vs societies expectations, did you ever feel like it was ironic they should feel that way? i mean you see the society huck lives in, where throughout the book there's evidence that life is cheap, between the feuding families, boat thieves, and con artists, its really all but chaos, and yet these are the people making up the society he wants to do right by. i admit its been awhile since i've read catcher in the rye, so im not sure if that fits into that one as well, though i still feel it does from what i remember but i need to get a copy of it.

anyway its nice to find someone to talk about these books with, maybe catcher in the rye at this point is cliche', but that doesn't mean i cant relate or enjoy it just as much, what are some other classics you enjoy? hope this doesn't take up too much wall space, i can get carried away with these things sometimes, just let me know lol. ttyl
hey i'm sorry its taken me a few to get back to you, i agreed to be a judge at an all day competition yesterday and had a gig fri night. anyway it did go well but im glad its over, how was yours?

you know i couldn't agree more about huck, the dynamic of finding oneself in that book almost gave it a catcher in the rye type vibe to it, would you agree? i can't help but feel these two characters were both passively working against society even if they didn't know it, simultaneously discovering themselves bc of it. though id say it felt more tangible in huck bc of his decision to free jim despite the clearly defined laws.

you know what i find almost haunting though is that i felt this undercurrent of guilt running through both characters sometimes bc of their inherently different approach to life and ignorance to the mainstream logic of the day. you know what i mean here? its gives each an almost sad flavor to me, despite the "happy" ending of huckleberry finn.

anyway i hope all is well, was good to hear from you and take care
ah you won't be dissapointed if you liked those two, and yeah don't think i'm any further educated on his stuff than you are. basically my ma bought my a collection of his books, some of which were partials, roughing it being one of them.

but man tom and huck books were epic weren't they? i had to stop reading sometimes bc of random fits of laughter. just goes to show how badly modern movies can butcher a classic.
I always love a random message, thank you. :)
Certainly feeling better than a week ago.
Thinking of coming out of isolation now.
same. but i'm sure you already guessed/intuited/could tell that. (ok, i just overkilled that)
