  • Hey, I don't know Chinese!! Hehe, I'm below beginner even. People probably need to take at least 1 year lessons to become beginners.

In general, I'm very bad with languages, but it surprised me that Asian languages aren't as difficult as the Western culture traditionally assumes. Especially the simplified alphabet versions (Korean Hangul should probably also be considered a simplified alphabet).

Do you learn other languages easily? (apart from Chinese, which is just quite difficult)
Family, teachers (the good ones), monks at a monastery I lived for a while, authors, poets...anyone with a message.

I hope all is well :)
That seems to be a great problem of education today - we study *a TON* of things, to such extent that we actually can't remember much of it later. It's obviously an inefficient way of conducting education and I hope they get a grip on that soon. Wishing you good luck! :)

Oh, I'm fine, thanks! I guess I started asking you, because recently was more into Asian languages (on a very beginner level, of course). Just found a 3-volume book called "Fun with Chinese Characters" where they use comic sequences to get you to remember the characters. It's fun for me - but ONLY because it's voluntary and unscheduled. If I had it as an obligation to study such a difficult language and write homeworks, I would hate it, for sure.
:D Awesome, coincidences are such fun!
I stand in the shadow of elders who have
taught me - thank them, not I.

Heh, I doodle and draw in the journal
more than I write. Life is a forward, upward
spiral I think. We can only get better :)
I'm 17 years old and in high school (American version of secondary school). Waiting for university time to roll around so I can actually learn something. (American schools below collegiate level are horrid)

Journals are curious things, I've found. You can look back at them years later and see how much you've changed. It's like a personal time-travel device.
It sounds like the most part of that score will cover all kinds of general study disciplines, and not the focused discipline(s) that particularly motivate you to want to apply to that school? If so, that's not very fair / or reasonable system of them.
So, your dream school will be again in Chinese? What's the procedure for admittance - exam, or score based on grades from previous school, or recommendations, or all of that at once? Wishing you good luck! :)
You aren't alone in that -- I do the same and wonder, "what was I so (insert emotion) at??". Irksome, though I've found writing (journals, blogs, whatever tickles your fancy) can help if one is so inclined.

To probably mis-quote a famous poet, "Every wall is a door".
A few questions you may want to ask yourself:

    1) What about myself don't I like when I'm around others?
    2) Why?
    3) Why to the why?
    4) How can I fix this? No one deserves such influence over me.

Embrace yourself from time to time, it can work wonders :)
I do that mistake a lot too, don't worry ^^ (maybe they could simplify the design in some way, hmm)

Oh, yes, there's also simplified Chinese... but the regular people, even in Japan in Korea, and I think a few other Asian countries, in addition to China, still use quite a lot of the core glyphs. They do it, because 1 glyph gives a whole word, so it's sometimes faster! Maybe it's more difficult for you, if you haven't begun early, and if you haven't had the time to focus on it for as many hours per week as Chinese children. Otherwise I believe anyone can learn, but they have to be raised that way from babies.
    Lol, thanks.

I'll try to enjoy myself, fingers crossed that all goes smoothly.
I hope everything is ok at your neck of the woods too, with your family and friends and all.
Hehe, well it seems it's quite difficult, especially with the melody/sounds of pronunciation. I find the writing systems fascinating though. Wish to learn the core ~600 glyphs -- they are also used in Korean and Japanese writing. What alphabet does Filipino use?
You are very welcome, it's the least I can do :) Something I personally found useful was finding the root of why I was dissatisfied with myself - whether it's parental standards, social normalcy, idyllic settings, whatever. Once I found out why I didn't accept myself for Me, I made many, many mental notes and small self-services to boost self-confidence while building the sense of Self that is vital for self-love. For example, looking into a mirror before bed and saying "You did amazing on that chemistry exam, good job!" - you can get away with this without it being egotistical because it's your goal and you know yourself better than anyone else with regards to what you need for personal development and health. Cherish your differences, they allow unique contributions towards Unity.

"Hobbies and hedonisms" is what I call it; they realign you with the present and provide a source of release and validation.

If you ever wish to talk, I am here. Best of luck, life gets better :)
 You are so kind. What language do you mostly read in, is it Mandarin? I wonder whether books in Mandarin are more expensive to print.
    Hehe, it was random! :D
But as soon as I heard it I was like...
"I must post this on soulseeker's wall!" hahha XD
The title just reminded me of you instantly XD
