Oh, I am most happy to oblige, you can always feel free to come explain some topics in laymans terms if that helps you get inspired. :) I love learning about stuff like that.
Ohhh.... I'm sorry to hear you may be transferring to a refinery/petrochemical facility. Terribly dirty air in those situations. Unless maybe it's the ones in California. Otherwise - TX or LA or Chicago area will stink. Well - I 'm sure you've considered that. I worked at what was then Mobiloil's largest refinery in Beaumont TX. Then worked at what was then ARCO's largest refinery at the Houston Ship Channel. What a trip. Your heating utility company is powered by Coal or Natural Gas?
Yea, that diagram makes sense to some extent although I am not familiar with how all the terminology applies in practical examples, but I appreciate you posting that! The overall idea of the feedback loop makes sense.

I posted this on my own wall instead of yours:

I hope you get some solid inspiration soon for your thesis!

Yea, we have had a couple times where we have lost fiber due to trenching, our engineers don't keep the best documentation of where the stuff is buried when they plan new things apparently.

We also had someone cut through a 100 pair run of telephone lines. That wasn't an pleasant day in IT, although no one called us about it. :p
Ok and the cascading would be like another valve that could influence the original valve in the loop?
In IT redundancy is all about having backups, backups, backups.

Backup hardware, backup logical connections, backed up data, and to make failure as transparent as possible so it doesn't interrupt work. That is a theme I am sure you are quite familiar with in Process Engineering.

Being able to figure out the hows, whats, and wheres with as little money as possible is key.
    lol, nice!

IT has so many details and it is so customer oriented that some days I just wish I wasn't in this field. Part of me wishes that I was a researcher or something a bit more solitary. I also don't get that feeling that I am pushing any boundaries like scientific research does. I am just rediscovering what someone else created in IT. Don't get me wrong. I have a lot of freedom with my job, but I think I could be doing some different things that would be a bit better fit for myself.

The higher up you go the more Project Management experience and skills you need. At least that is the case in the companies I have worked for. In my current company my job isn't even a position, they outsource all of the technical positions and the higher levels just make 'business decisions.'
The only certification that I have right now is an MCTS in Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager which is a sort of all around deployment suite for enterprises.

Sorry, this conversation really got me geeking out lol.
Wow. A process engineer? For what? Who? What do you process? And a female one at that!
We have a process engineering group here that deals with all of the bio reactors and HVAC and monitoring nodes on site. It would be really neat to follow them around for a day to learn what all their systems do. We interact with them a lot but they always got better tools than us such as fiber testers, splicers, and other network testing equipment, it pisses me off!
Ahh, I have a hard time understanding what the loop actually consists of. Is it theoretical in a sort of process flow or is it actually a loop of controllers that has a subloop in it?
So the content is really dry, but CCNA = Cisco Certified Network Associate. Most corporations and larger sized businesses use Cisco hardware for their networks. CCNA focuses on technical configuration, planning, and scaling of hardware based on specific location requirements. There is a lot that goes into configuraton if you want a solution that is redundant, efficient, scalable, etc. Redundancy is HUGE in IT. I am sure you deal with redundancy a lot in Engineering as well.

There is the CCNA, then the CCNP, then the CCIE. CCNP deals with some BGP routing which is what the internet is primarily uses. CCIE does a ton of BGP and is rather hard to obtain but it pretty much guarantees a great income. You really have to have a lot of experience to get that certification though.
CCNA covers a ton of content and it just gets more and more comprehensive. They actually split it up into two separate tests just due to the sheer amount of material but there is still a comprehensive test out there and I am stubborn and want to take it all at once.

I am still pretty bad in areas that I don't have any experience with such as Frame Relay and OSPF routing, a lot of it is just mundane details to remember. I don't have a set date yet but I am hoping soon. I want to get this knocked out because I am close and it will help ensure a good job after this one if that is the route I decide to take.

Cascade control, does that deal with multiple controls for single nodes and prioritizing those?
The diagnosis was done when I was child, I can't quite remember it but I was seeing various different doctors and what not at the time.
I am considering getting a new diagnosis done to keep everything up to date. I don't mind answering questions.
I graduated a long time ago as a Chemical Engineer. I only stayed in that field for about 3 years tho. Long story why - but essentially it wasn't for this INFJ. I went into my own business, that failed, then did accounting type work along with other entreprenuerial activities until I decided to become a social worker 3 years ago. I have found my place in the world now and loving every minute of it. I wouldn't trade getting my degree in engineering tho for anything. I use the logical pattern way of thinking/training from that - to help me with recognizing patterns with people and their systems. Cool how that relates. Why do you ask?
I would help you with the driving if you lived in the same area. :p

I am studying for the CCNA certification.

    What is your thesis on?
    T
    True, but people are irrational.

I think the general idea of my policies is 'Keep out of shit.' :p

So I can hear later: 'I LEFT MY LOVE CUZ OF U AND UR AN ASSHOLE!! U RUIN MY LIFE!! :( :( </3'

    No thanks.
