I agree 100% that we're taught kindness is a weakness. In fact, I have a friend who tells me "You're too kind. You really are." I also know that it's a trait that is considered weak or thin skinned in academics. My officemate is a very kind person as well - she gives her students so much compassion and goes out of her way to help them - and I know our supervisor basically told her she's too soft for this line of work. And yet, as a student, kindness is what makes me flourish. It's unfortunate that we don't seem to value kindness like we use too!

I would say you know kindness too!! Do you ever think kindness is a gender thing? I was thinking about how women (especially in education) are often encouraged to be nurtures and have that 'loving compassion' for students...I don't know if that's more fostered in women than men, and perhaps that shifts how we perceive kindness?
Also, I have to admit, I can talk about kindness, but it can be exceptionally difficult to actually participate in! I try!! I'm trying to be more open to positive, and give the world more love! But somedays I just want to hate everyone! haha

Thanks for the rep! At this point, I have named this house the "money pit" but I think it's so worth it!. We kept thinking of a good business idea since it's commercially zoned and an ice cream shop seemed right. There is good foot traffic and with a good theme, it will be successful. I am excited about it!

That's pretty uncanny - it seems that is probably going to happen here as well. I had a 'change' last winter and the compatibility thing along with personal issues for us both seem to be leading in that direction. However the good of all must come first and this situation has become unhealthy for both of us. I'm just afraid there will be much anger and retribution in the road ahead. wow.

Well isn't this interesting. If not for the gender swap we seem to be in the same boat so to speak. Unfortunately it's been more than a 3-hour tour. I think what i have on my hands is an insecurity issue and fear manifesting as anger as a distancing thing. Unfortunately i seem to be in counseling by myself in the now. My wife manifests as tough i don't know if things will change in that respect. (another thing lacking btw) It will be interesting to see how it all plays out lol. (irony there ) Hang in there. <3
I know exactly how you feel. At the moment my SO is going thru some things of her own and there is nothing for me at the time. She was raised also where 'men were men' and unfortunately I am going more monk than John Wayne lol. <3 -
