Clinton vs Trump, Trump vs Clinton

@Sloe Djinn it's awesome that you have a friend like that. Those must be some intense conversations! My entire family is hardcore conservative republican. All of them. All are voting for Trump (Though I try to argue there is nothing conservative about Trump. But I digress.) Guess what, we are not estranged and I still love my family and despite having some pretty intense conversations every once and a while, none of them have ever discussed murdering liberals or carrying out some insane civil war against fellow citizens to preserve America. In fact, we will probably all get together and watch the debates like we are watching the superbowl or something. The point is that disagreeing is a very American concept. We don't all need to believe in the same ideologies. We can all disagree about things without destroying ourselves. To suggest otherwise, is extremely un-American and very ironic for those claiming to want to preserve America. It's interesting that someone with power, such as the article about the politician I posted earlier, would suggest that we all murder each other for disagreeing because that will preserve America... when our politicians are the problem. Of course they would rather Americans waste their time and according to some maniacs, lives, fighting each other in whatever way rather than to focus on their corruption and leeching off the system.

It's a good point @acd , and that's what I was trying to reference earlier when I was asking you @Eventhorizon to hash out your attitude towards those who may not share your concept of what the US should be. The constitution and related documents were written for the time in which they were created. Things change, including the very idea of what America is. Not only that, but saying that your concept is based upon the constitution is not an end-all. Like anything else, the bible for example, people can interpret such material in a million different ways and for equally good reasons. I could kill people who have wronged me, and claim that I'm being a good Christian based upon the fact that in the bible, god killed people who sinned against him (her/it/whatever). My interpretation of what should be done was based upon the Bible, and was thus correct. You see how easily I can claim that, but how wrong it may be to millions of other people who see themselves as devout and adherent to tenets in the same book.

The rest is as an aside, and not directed towards anyone in particular:

My best friend identifies as a conservative. He often opens my eyes to the logic behind conservative ideals and policy as he sees it. He is big on political philosophy, and as such he is able to explain to me why people might be angry or lose out when more liberal policies and legislation are successfully passed. While I might not always agree, it is often a very enlightening discussion. He takes time to explain his stance and he is humble though his explanations often have me dropping my jaw at his level of knowledge. Even then, we don't always agree, but it doesn't affect our relationship.

Liberals and conservatives drive each other crazy when they give up trying to understand each others' viewpoints or examine their own. You can tell when this has happened because it just devolves into flinging propaganda or insults at each other, which is so unfortunately common in these threads. As @ruji mentioned elsewhere, no figurehead is going to save anybody from whatever the US is becoming. They are just lightning rods for us to direct blame as an excuse for being ignorant of our own contributions to our predicament, which is sadly exploited more and more every day by special interests and big money.
The bible is a series of stories put together. Made up with some historical landmarks thrown in here and there. The Constitution is real.
Yes it was written hundreds of years ago but its without question still relevant and without question the best idea for a government the world has ever seen. Is America perfect? Clearly not. Can it be improved? Clearly. But stepping backward into failed ideals like socialism and communism isnt the answer.

are you a socialist?
take the quiz.

Powell on Trump

"
In an Aug. 21 email from Powell to Miller, he blasted Trump for embarking on a “racist” movement that believes President Obama was not born in the US.

“Yup, the whole birther movement was racist,” Powell wrote. “That’s what the 99% believe. When Trump couldn’t keep that up he said he also wanted to see if the certificate noted that he was a Muslim.”

Powell told BuzzFeed News, “I have no further comment. I’m not denying it.”

“As I have said before, ‘What if he was?’ Muslims are born as Americans everyday,” Powell wrote to his former aide.

Powell then recounted President Obama’s qualifications, including his graduation from Harvard as an editor of the Law Review.

Powell went on to write that Trump’s reported adviser, Roger Ailes — the former chair and CEO of Fox News who left the company after allegations of sexual harassment — wouldn’t help Trump with winning over women voters.

“And Ailes as an advisor wont heal women, don’t you think?” Powell wrote.

In an email from May of this year, with the subject line “racism,” Powell reiterated a position he had taken in that past, writing, “Or as I said before the 2012 election, ‘There is a level of intolerance in parts of the Republican Party.’”

Nicely made up. But isnt this thread about Hilliary? Shouldnt you stay on topic?

Speaking of the witch. I have decided she is a real life witch. Its the only explanation as to how shes not in jail or at least off the ticket. A really good argument for what can only be called black magic.

It’s a real article and it pertains to the thread.
Talking about Hillary using black magic however is BS and doesn’t belong.

NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley spoke candidly about the problems facing the black community when appearing on a Philadelphia radio station, accusing “unintelligent,” “brainwashed” African-Americans of keeping successful ones down.

While appearing on “Afternoons with Anthony Gargano and Rob Ellis,” Barkley was asked about a rumor that Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson was getting criticism from his black teammates for not being, quote, “black enough.”

Barkley went on a long monologue on the subject: “Unfortunately, as I tell my white friends, we as black people, we’re never going to be successful, not because of you white people, but because of other black people. When you’re black, you have to deal with so much crap in your life from other black people. It’s a dirty, dark secret; I’m glad it’s coming out.”

Barkley said that young black men who do well in school are accused of “acting white” by their peers. “One of the reasons we’re never going to be successful as a whole, because of other black people. And for some reason we are brainwashed to think, if you’re not a thug or an idiot, you’re not black enough. If you go to school, make good grades, speak intelligent, and don’t break the law, you’re not a good black person. And it’s a dirty, dark secret.”

I thought we should “stay on topic”?
What does this have to do with Trump or Hillary?
Looks like more excuses for white people to talk shit about blacks...”Well this one study...or guess what Charles Barkley who is a fucking billionaire said about poor blacks....”
He probably has had a few concussions himself if you want to tie it to Hillary somehow.

MY thread and my response to @Stu s post.

Odd. Responding to posts only to have the quote disappear. ..

MY thread and my response to @Stu s post.
Open thread, and anyone can comment just like they can and do on my own threads.
I wasn’t deviating from topic or being rude.
Colin Powell did say those words that @Stu posted...a simple Google search would show you so much.
Just saying - “You’re wrong” isn’t an argument nor does it prove anything contrary to what was posted.
(Back on topic?)

I stay out of your threads because it doesnt take long before you tell me you have to calm down.
I dont mind you posting in mine but dont think I am not going to call you out when you post irrelevant stuff as an attempted trigger.

I posted nothing of irrelevance, everything I have posted here has been relevant to the thread I haven’t erased anything.
Once again...I will leave YOUR thread not because I am intimidated or other such nonsense, but rather because you open threads with a single-minded approach and everyone else who doesn’t agree with you is an idiot.
Ciao!

Damn. Kind of just want to live my life without threat of being murdered... be it by terrorists or by conservatives who believe they need to cleanse the nation of liberals. What's the difference again?

Come North. You can live in Canada in peace
