    I think that this is an inevitable human trait. No one can escape it. If you think about it...you can only essentially care about something, if it's SOMEHOW connected to you- if YOU care about it, if YOU think about it, if it affects YOU, etc.

    That being said, people tend to stop caring too much about someone who they know will always be there for you..so we end up treating the most important people the worst, and put in a lot of effort to chase those who haven't "gotten" in our circle yet. A pretty depressing cycle imo. Of course, there are some who can keep things prioritized/straight in their mind, but it's like...why try so hard if someone will love you anyways?
