Why do INFJs love a good sad song?
I know you all can relate to me when I make that statement...more so than other types I think.
We can empathize with them more completely.
Post your favorite one...give a little description as to why it touches you.
Here's mine at that moment.
Moto Boy - If only your bed could cry.
It's a heartbreaking song relating to all the lost loves we have ever known....am I wrong to make that statement that the INFJs heart breaks harder than the average bear? Pay no attention to the video BTW....it's a strange video someone made and I don't think it reflects the song whosoever...but it was the only one I could find...also I can link you to the MP3 if you are interested.

i'm pretty sure this is about his dead dog... but could just also be about losing a good friend and learning to let them go in general...

I DO NOT like a sad song. Why feed what you are trying to get away from?

No...no sad songs at all?
I'm not feeding any sadness in my heart....I am reminiscing about the love that once was....that doesn't have to be negative unless you make it so.
Sad songs have a place...there is a need to remember.

Unless a certain sad song has an important message or is trying to teach something, i think sad songs are simply damage to the soul.

Well, we'll just have to agree to disagree....I cannot make it without my sad songs....
They soothe my soul somehow.

Could it be that they make you feel like you're not the only one suffering?
Perhaps...or maybe I just find them beautiful somehow...part of this thread was to explore the reasons why one would like sad songs...
I think it could have something to do with remembering the pain and knowing that it doesn't hurt anymore...that I am free from the sadness....does that make sense?
Or I could just think them more beautiful...lol.

Have to agree. When younger I would listen to depressing songs and feel worse than I already did. Then I began to think, if sad songs can make me feel worse, listening to them means I WANT to feel worse. I simply dont. Every now and then I catch myself listening to depressing music and have to remind myself it serves no benefit to me.

Though thinking of it now I suppose there is benefit in knowing you are not the only one who can feel badly about something. Just as it is a benefit to know that only a few weeks ago I believed I was alone in some of my perspective of the world. I now know I am not and this strangely makes me feel more at ease.

As a musician this interests me a lot. Can you share a few songs which you find sad and beautiful?

Well. The quality of the playing is high and it might seem like it's relaxing, but in my opinion it's just a form of hypnosis that makes you less aware of your true emotions and thoughts.

Some sort of fake relaxation, that makes you repress what you really feel and think.

I do like me a good melancholy tune. Excessively sentimental styles/lyrics seriously put me off (and it's rare that I find music which strikes a balance), but songs with wistful tones are, to me, very powerful.

I really dig Pink Floyd and Radiohead, but generally I don't listen to bands which primarily produce songs focused around negative emotion.

I can't decide which of the two DT songs I've been listening to lately to post, so here's the one about the pain of creative block (not knowing how to start on a project):
