Prejudice: Define it - Deal with it.

That's a really good point about groups vs. individuals. If we see someone as an individual no different than ourselves, a person with a family, friends, a life. A person that can be hurt just as we can be hurt, it becomes impossible to generalize them to the point where we can rationalize and justify prejudice. We would be fully conscious of the pain we were inflicting not to mention our own narrow viewpoint. Another poster was saying how exposure is a key component in breaking down prejudice. But when you think of it in terms of overcoming group generalizations, its exposure to individuals that allows us to see the people, families, and children that make up the group. Thank you for making that so clear.
