I heard about this on the radiot this morning, they were reporting that it is in response to the rise of anti-semitism across europe in the wake of Israel's recent offensive against Hamas/Palestinians, the rhetoric has apparently moved from Zionists to Israelis to simply Jews and the reporter then said that as everyone knows from history persecution begins with the Jews and then extends to the "other".

I kind of thought that was a bit mixed up, although I was interested in whether or not other forumers think that anti-semitism is on the rise or not, I personally think it is but not just because of the actions of Israel.

The thing is that looking back at the propaganda of the WW2 era, especially the quotes or extracts from Mein Kampf I've been unfortunate enough to have read, its always seemed like a total and utter mish mash of total whack jobbery but a lot of the propaganda I've seen more recently and its spread kind of makes me understand how crazy ideas attributing everything wrong or wicked winds up being attributed to a single ethnic group.

You say here that you think that 'anti-semitism' is on the rise but not just due to the recent israeli bombardment of gaza

Can you first please explain to me what being 'semitic' is and secondly can you explain to me what other reasons, that you are alluding to, people might have to be upset with the jews (if it's the jews you are talking about)?

Personally i would make a distinction between zionism and judaism. Not all zionists are jews and not all jews are zionists so the attempt by the zionists to say jewish=zionist is clearly a rhetorical trick

The term “Zionism” was coined in 1890 by Nathan Birnbaum.

Its general definition means the national movement for the return of the Jewish people to their homeland and the resumption of Jewish sovereignty in the Land of Israel.

Since the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948, Zionism has come to include the movement for the development of the State of Israel and the protection of the Jewish nation in Israel through support for the Israel Defense Forces.

From inception, Zionism avocated tangible as well as spiritual aims. Jews of all persuasions - left, right, religious and secular - formed the Zionist movement and worked together toward its goals.

Disagreements in philosophy has led to rifts in the Zionist movement of the years and a number of separate forms have emerged, notably: Political Zionism; Religious Zionism; Socialist Zionism and Territorial Zionism.
As a frequent reader of posts on infjs.com it would seem that every jewish person who has offered a defense of Judaism as anything other then a religion has moved on. It would seem that (in this regard) this is an ant-Semitic site.
