I'm surprised no one has mentioned him.

Angel came down from heaven yesterday
She stayed with me just long enough to rescue me
And she told me a story yesterday,
About the sweet love between the moon and the deep blue sea
And then she spread her wings high over me
She said she's gonna come back tomorrow

And I said, "Fly on my sweet angel,
Fly on through the sky,
Fly on my sweet angel,
Tomorrow I'm gonna be by your side"

Sure enough this morning came unto me
Silver wings silhouetted against the child's sunrise
And my angel she said unto me,
"Today is the day for you to rise
Take my hand, you're gonna be my man,
You're gonna rise"
And then she took high over yonder

And I said, "Fly on my sweet angel,
Fly on through the sky,
Fly on my sweet angel,
Forever I will be by your side"

Wow, I was actually thinking but this one this morning. As of this post, I haven't seen any interviews but from his music, I like to think ISFP. Very emotional guitar playing and balanced compositions (Fi+Se). I don't get an intuitive vibe from his playing much though. He could be infp but his lyrics aren't metaphorical enough in a larger sense.

I should also mention he had synaesthesia

They have, but I don't think anyone ever got around to starting a thread specifically on him. I don't feel like speculating on his type, but I sure as hell love his music.

Fi dominant with Ne secondary? Really? ....I don't see it. I think it'd make more sense if he were Ni dominant.

The difference between INFJs and INFPs is that INFJs have an internal world of feelings, but project their idealism out into the world. INFPs have an internal world of idealism but project their world of feelings out into the world(this is his music and the way he expresses himself on stage).

Not saying he wasn't, but wonder if he was an idealist. I really wonder.

I saw him as against the grain and a form of a rebel, though musically talented with the guitar enough to play his own style of acid rock; "Purple Haze", if you will....and a southpaw guitarist. I think he shared his feelings through his music.

From my years listening to him I would say that Jimi was an original. He was able to tap into that part of himself and express it freely. When I really listen to his music I can get carried away into the emotion of it. I think that is what sets him apart. He can open up any song and make it his own. His playing and his thinking was on another plane....

Uh, no bro. That's backwards. If this is how you view it, you might be an infp. Fi is an internal world of feelings, not Fe. True, infj's have feelings and the internal feelings come across through our Ni. We "feel" through our Ni because Ni is extremely abstract and hard to articulate. Not to mention, we are NF's and not NT's. I would imagine the Ni for an intj would work slightly differently.

Too abstracto.

Take a JCF approach if you want, but I see no need to reason with theory when you can just look at what's actually going on.

The simple fact is - INFPs are freer with their emotions. They don't hold back as much as INFJs when it comes to how they feel, letting others know how they feel, and definitely being able to express how they feel. The part of INFPs that rarely sees the light of day is all their crazy abstract thinking filled with mystical / dreamy / wordly ideas. Here, Jimi fuses his expressive music with those ideas which allows him to communicate his mystical / observational side more easily.

To show the other side, INFJs are freer with their ideals, like I've already said. They restrain the display of their feelings, but freely let people in on their values and ambitions and aspirations - their outlooks on life.

This is right, infp's are freer with their emotions than us but I just don't get an infj vibe from Hendrix. It doesn't feel right to claim him. Though, he might have been an Enneagram wing 4.
