ICE out of control in USA

That much of this is happening in California is truly telling. The state of California has one of the biggest networks of state-run prisons in the United States implies their economies were built on the principle of incarceration. All of this is a money making scheme.

Everyone else in the rest of the world,

Season 1 of Trump was epic, that pandemic really spiced things up, although the medical advice was a bit suspect
The change of actor in season 2 was a bit of a let down, he kept forgetting his lines, was a bit boring
But Season 3, bringing the 1st actor back, and adding the rich guy to oversee things was good choice for viewing figures
Started off strong, now their break up adds and exciting twist

We are SOOOOO different!! I don't even like popcorn. It HAS TO BE Jr. Mints, or Milk Duds.

Another summer to remember and probably going to be more exciting than it was during covid. Better off staying home and for the fortunate few continue living a normal life as this problem is going to spread not just throughout the US but also Europe.

This is exactly what the Trump Voters voted for, make no mistake, if you support the current administration you are in favor ignoring the rights enshrined in the Constitution.

An unintended consequence of this bold action involves critical red state "priniciple", states rights. It has been viewed as inviolable by deep south racists since the crafting of the US Constitution and it is now on the table. Not since Kennedy forced Wallace's hand have we seen such dynamics Democrats have defacto sacrosanctified states rights, wrongly, no longer I forecast.

Nazi punching season just opened
True. That said, I see the citenzry character as slightly different than the German citenzry of that time. Americans are more self-indulgent, and have more self-interested thinking. Perhaps 30-40% of the populace may have consumed the America Hitler Kool Aid, but a majority plus have and will not drink it. Further, bluster is one thing, but when the individualism is encroached upon, protests and divsions will evolve in more complex ways than Trump will be able to resolve. At one point in 2015, I surmised that a second authoritarian administration would be needed to navigate and then overtake the deomocracy fully. I now believe one more is required, even with a bought Congress and a religiously intoxicated Supreme Court.

These ICE goons show up and grab people off the street (or anywhere really) without any uniforms, badges, or proper identification. Any criminal could claim to be ICE and use it as an excuse to kidnap or terrorize people.

The government instigated these riots by denying people rights like due process, habeaus corpus, or lawful search and seizure.

Now they have deployed the military against civilians, which is the definition of authoritarianism.

Finally, today they arrested a senator for asking questions during a press conference. How long before more opposition politicians are arrested?

What is it with the Mexican flags, setting cars on fire, throwing bricks and rocks, and looting? Stopping traffic?

What does looting say? Are those our "true colors"?

Yes. Every moment is an authentic expression of what America is.

Cheers,
Ian

I beg to disagree. Yes, there are people here like this. Looting shows exactly what? Not in my neighborhood.

Well, America is a lot bigger than any neighborhood. I suppose one’s answer also has to do with whether one thinks of America as an idea, or concept, or the lived experience of each and every, including the present moment.

To my sense of things, America is both these things, and both are true, but neither wholly so.

Cheers,
Ian

How we see something differs greatly from person to person: place to place. One can be able to see something in multifaceted images as we pass through these images. You and I can both live in America and see things so differently. Our perception of reality differs, and each of our ways of understanding can change like the clouds rolling overhead changing where there is shade or where there is rain or sunshine. Attitude has a lot to do with how we see things. We can change how we take things with the blink of an eye.

Even in our daily decisions we can be influenced by the tiniest of things. It is up to us to embrace a somewhat acceptable course through each day. Why do so many people walk past an eight inch long glass snake trying to wiggle up a curb, knowing it cannot make it and will die from heat, exhaustion, and no water? What is this tiny being of life to us? Is it an idea, a concept, or is it a lived experience placed in our path to see what we will do and who we are? Eight fingers to give it something to push against and a small bit of help is all it needs to free itself from its destiny of death, and nobody is watching; why do so many walk past it? Did we choose to have compassion on the small snake? Maybe some people did not even notice it.

Should a child see an old man stop and help the snake, the child may become influenced. He may start to see things he had not seen. Best tell the child the snake was harmless, and how dangerous some snakes may be. I wonder if the child shares his bicycle with his friend that wants one so badly?
