Hate Crimes Increase, Extreme Right Strengthens as Greece's Economy Sinks

Is there anything to the claims that much of the crime is driven by illegal immigrants? 1 million out of 11 million is kind of a lot for illegal immigrants.

Anger is on the rise

Economic pressure is building up on society like a pressure cooker and those built up energies are going to have to go somewhere

The danger with these situations is that right wing extremists will step in and direct peoples anger against immigrants

But it is not immigrants who have crashed the economy, it is the bankers, their paymasters (the global investors) and the corrupt politicians whose loyalty they have bought

Bashing immigrants will do NOTHING to improve the situation. People have to go to the core of the problem and that is the movement of wealth from the public to the top 10% of the top 1%

If you want to know who is making the plays then do as the journalists say and 'follow the money'. Find those who now hold all the money and you've caught the thieves

My thoughts are that this is sadly predictable. History repeats itself, human nature seeks someone -- anyone -- to blame. Very sad.

There are people who are responsible for this that is for sure....but it isn't the immigrants. Neither should violence be the response

We do need to address, as a society, the movement of wealth as money doesn't dissapear in an economic crisis it justs changes hands

The money has been moved from the public to a very small number of people. This clearly is not good for our society

If we want a healthier and happier society we need to stop this theft of money and create a more equal society

Unfortunately, this type of thing (Economic peril in a country) that allowed Hitler and the Nazis to come to power (here is a quick, simple read: http://www.mrdowling.com/706-hitler.html ).

To find scapegoats is not right but, unfortunately, if the global economy continues to falter and hardship should spread (hopefully, it will not) to other nations, you will see more of the same and NO country is immune - it could happen in America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc...

No matter how peace loving a culture may be, whenever they are worried about where their next meal will come from, strife is bound to break out if this problem is endemic.

History repeats itself over and over and over again...unfortunately.

Not trying to sound negative but World War III will happen one day...and a World War IV, V, VI, etc.....in the meantime, regional conflicts will erupt, people will die and suffering will continue to perpetuate itself on humankind. It seems we are caught in a cycle that we cannot escape from (or, at least, have not been able to for the last 10,000 years).

Technology has changed, but we, as humans, don't seem to have changed too much, if any at all.
