I can be overly modest just so that I don't come off as pretentious or like I am too full of my self... That is to say I think I'm really awesome but I sell myself short to other people so I don't have to be "on" all the time.

I don't think I actually sell myself short, but maybe more in a neutral way. If the subject in question is something I know a lot about, then I talk freely and confidently.
