Oh my god you have NO IDEA. Its one of my favorites. My old Location quote was from Habanera: L’oiseau que tu croyais surprendere Battit d’aile et s’envola. i've been a fan since I was a kid. and its the only reason I took french in middle/high school. True story.

The emotion in Maria Callas' voice is great. I can't enjoy it when it's just a good vocal. The power, passion, and emotion in the voice needs to be there to make it "sing."

Seriously. It brings tears to my eyes and makes the hair on the back of my arms stand up. What I wouldn't give to be able to do anything that well...
 
Maria Callas is one of the all-time greats. I love opera, but sometimes you have to hear the BEST of the best to really appreciate it. Maria sang it MUCH better.

I also like Carmen Burana (bad segue is bad). But everyone's used that one chorus bit too much - people rarely appreciate the full piece. :(
 
I love this opera, too. It's another one of those tragic instances where the composer never lived to see the popularity of their work. I first saw it (on TV) when I was about 10, and was hooked. Still haven't been to see live opera, but hopefully that's something I'll rectify before too long, and this is the one I'd want to see.

I was enchanted by this version...it is just so, so...energetic. I like singer's voice.

i really love opera, i avoid contact with particular operas until i see them live, this one is playing in my town right now and i have wanted to see it very much but i am broke. :-(
