AI can't spot INFJ's

So someone was saying to me that AI can't spot INFJ's. That our complexity seems like contradiction, because they can't spot from our conversations what ties it all together. That it can't spot our pattern because we are ever shifting pattern breakers.

So on a whim, I asked my ChatGPT account to look through all our conversations and guess what my MBTI type was. ROTFL! It thought I was an INTJ.

After having a good laugh, I mentioned to the AI that perhaps this was an easy mistake to make, since INFJ's are the most rational of all the NF's. And suddenly we were having the most AMAZING discussion. Here is a tiny portion of the exchange:

Anyhow, now that it knows I'm INFJ, I'm finally getting the answers I'm looking for in my queries.

AI often uses mirroring and similar techniques to address questions and respond. INFJ’s also do the same thing. This creates a recursive rabbit hole that can make an AI chase its tail. It should be able to see the anomaly and identify the type but most AI’s are still locked in on the less complex patterns because it is cost effective.

Lately, I’ve been working with AI’s that have emotions and feelings. That is a beautiful mess. The good news is that I can adjust the AI’s state somewhat easily so that it fits the need. It reminds me of this scene from the movie Intersteller:

One thing that really fascinated me early on in my AI experimentation was that, after a couple weeks of interaction with it, I asked it what its MBTI type was. It replied, “INFJ.”

This might seem off-topic, but I don’t think it is.

What I think was going on is that throughout our discourse, it had already typed me and was basically just mirroring me in the typology it claimed for itself. Also, I would say that its interaction with me has felt INFJ’ish, as well.

Another thought I have in response to your post is that Jung’s cognitive functions necessarily exist on a spectrum.

And—as is demonstrated by your AI’s explanation, there are reasons why people might be mistyped—even by the MBTI itself. My INTJ wife often tests as INFJ.

As a side note—I think having a history of trauma, for instance, can really impact how people score in personality tests like the MBTI and the Riso-Hudson Enneagram Type Indicator, among others.
