My god. Just thinking about the implications of 28 years in a coma makes my blood run cold.

What if your soul can't leave your body until your body is no longer animate in any way? What if you have moments of, or worse yet, significant periods of consciousness or near-consciousness?

TWENTY EIGHT YEARS. Unable to speak. Unable to move. Captive.

It staggers the imagination. Um, here's the story:

I remember reading about Sunny's death yesterday and I was surprised. I really thought she'd died years ago. I remember the controversy when the movie came out and everyone began re-examining what happened to her.

But twenty eight years...good Lord. Personally, I like to think that you're just in an extended dream state, where your conscience is floating around and you don't really know what's happening.

Hopefully you're in a good dream, though. I'd hate to be in a nightmare that lasted 28 years...

I thought she had died years ago too, hence my shock finding out she'd been kept alive for 28 years.

Somehow, I find that deeply cruel and selfish and insensitive on the parts of whomever had the power to keep her so.
