  • unfortunately as I have just moved house I have no internet until maybe February( new build/ bt openworld issues) so for any problems please see other staff members , as my only net access is a rather flaky phone connection
Hate the noise in the new advertisements, because I always listen to music when I'm here. Just my two cents. So, it sucks to me but money is money.
yeah. I'm one of those people who'd rather not touch something than break it (unless it's mine. then i'll glady break it and fix it - read every linux distro im not fluent with.)

Will have to get my hands dirty soon though
hey, this is hattrick. I sent you a couple of messages and you didn't get back to me. I just recently changed the email address on my account because the one I used to register does not exist and now I don't have sufficient permissions to post in the forum.
do i have tc mod powers and i'm blind or do i not?

actually, do you? Does the API allow that?
Hey. If I were to take a vacation from here for a bit, if I set the group I started to open...is that enough for it to just run itself?
Although I remember reading that everything was going soon anyway. Thanks. :)
    Thanks for letting me know.

I will continue to download programs that might riddle my computer with malware.
    Did the forum go down?

I download what could be a dodgy program so that could also be the reason.
    / - 75GB?
    /home - 104GB?
    /swap - 6GB
    /usr - 30GB
    /var - 5GB
    /tmp - 5GB?

    eh?
    win8 isn't that bad, mate.

It's mostly win7 at it's core. The transition from metro to typical desktop are still a bit jarring, hoping they fix that in 8.1...
It seems to perform a little better than my win7, but idk. Also the file transfer detail view is very nice.
You got a minute? Have a partitioning question.

I know there's info on the netz, but none of it seemed straightforward.

Doing a fresh linux install dual booting with win8. (Crunchbang)

In the past i just did a separate swap and /home, but it seemed prudent to have a separate /var /tmp /home and /usr, if nothing else for learning's sake.

My question is how big should they be? I've got 4GB DDR2 and about 303GB free space.

Swap i've heard one two double the RAM - so i was thinking 6-8GB. Home is discretionary.

    What i'm really wondering is about / /var /usr /tmp - thoughts?
Hey Death! What's up with those green power-bar'ish brownie points that you get under your name on the forum? Why do some users have a lot of them, and others have very few? At first I thought it had to do with how many posts you had posted, but now I'm seriously doubting my theory ...
