I think this will be a fun game. I would like to propose we post
songs here and then discuss whether or not the writer of the
song was writing it based from their feelings or to appeal to
consumerism and in turn profit using capitalistic means.

I think we should start here:

Something tells me that though Toby Keith indeeds like to party
he does not actually love red solo cups. He does love album sales though.

I say: capitalistic gain.

blood sweat and tears or just dollarsign crocodile tears?

my vote is for real.

I say she wrote it with real feeling.
I think this is with heart as well.

thank you for converting me from a person who actively avoids florence and the machine to a person who does not.

this one is very interesting. in the same way that your op clip pushed solo cups, solo, and probably half a dozen other commercial products i can't remember, the campari product placement here suggests that the exercise is in making money. but on the other hand, this could just be an accessory type goal - ie "might as well make money" - because there is a distinct possibility that the artist has genuine emotions about the content of the song, that she sincerely does want to "play a lovegame" and "ride on... disco stick".

I'm getting around to a proper response Invisi.

Well, I've done some slight investigation and for Jordin Sparks
I'm going to have to say no.. Simply because she does not
write her own music.

Lady Gaga I've yet to really look into, but I get the impression
that she writes some songs for her fans and some songs for
herself, a blend of both on her albums. I'd say the one posted
here is probably one that she wrote mainly to appeal to her
fan base and less to express some feelings towards how love
is a game.

Florence always seems to pull the right strings
