Don't teach children to fear the world, but prepare them to face it by giving them the tools and confidence to maneuvre and handle it.
Don't protect them from everything - let them experience some hurt and pain for themselves
Teach them how to manage their lives - earlier development of organization skills
Teach them about cars, regardless of gender, function of parts and maintenance
Teach them interpersonal communication strategies such as negotiation/bargaining, and the tricks which are used to sway them
Teach them how the world works, not just how it should work - they need the first to understand what the world is like and the second to understand how to change it
Teach them the value of freedom and the importance of responsibility and accountability - actions have consequences to yourself and everyone else
Teach them the value of drive and self motivation - don't depend on other people to motivate you. Learn to motivate yourself.
Teach them a healthy competitive spirit - strive to be the best, not just good enough - this will give them more opportunities later on.
Teach them to enjoy life and life in the moment - don't worry about the future so much but still plan for it.
Teach them how much impact they can have on the world, in their own unique way.
