What are some of the abnormal (or normal) things that you are either afraid of or are strangely attracted to?

@Oscillation was kind enough to find this nice list for the Philias - http://www.alphadictionary.com/articles/philias.html

And here is a list of phobias - http://phobialist.com/#A-

So do you know why you feel the way you do, or is it something you have always felt?

How has this feeling impacted your life negatively/positively?

I'm in the middle reading through the list of philias, and I must say there are a lot of them I can relate to, but again you have to remember it's a "obsession" we are talking about. Then there might not be so many of them... or atleast, not yet (I still have a lot to go through).

I’m obsessed with incense…I have a ridiculous collection…(like close to 200+ different kinds from all over) though I doubt there is a philia for that.

This would be my list of some loves (though not obsessively):

gnosiophilia
insectophilia
kinesophilia
lilapsophilia
philosophilia
phronemophilia
potamophilia
testophilia
trichophilia
triskaidekaphilia
xylophilia
love for knowledge
love for insects
love for movement or motion
... tornadoes and hurricanes
... philosophy, learning
... thinking
... rivers or running water
... tests, taking tests (Joke)
... hair
... the number 13 (Joke)
... wood or forests

I also have a love for (mostly) empty hallways, like hospitals, schools or churches when they're about to close or early in the morning and there is almost no one there. To just sit on the chair and hear distant sounds of footsteps or just silence. Oh, I love it! I love waiting rooms, as long as the door isn't shut, or, even better, there is no door.

You can make one up. I'm sure there already are some of these in the list that are made up.
How about incensumphilia? (supposedly latin, Google Translate)

I am claustrophiliac sometimes. Oh, and I'm a pluviophile.
I've struggled with agoraphobia for years.

Oh, where to even start... I've had more or less weird phobias in my life, lol. o.o

Achluophobia- Fear of darkness
Acrophobia- Fear of heights
Agraphobia - Fear of sexual abuse
Altophobia- Fear of heights
Anthropophobia- Fear of people or society
Arachnephobia or Arachnophobia- Fear of spiders
Arsonphobia- Fear of fire
Asthenophobia- Fear of fainting or weakness
Aviophobia or Aviatophobia- Fear of flying
Cancerophobia or Carcinophobia- Fear of cancer
Catoptrophobia- Fear of mirrors
Contreltophobia- Fear of sexual abuse
Dystychiphobia- Fear of accidents
Enochlophobia- Fear of crowds
Hypsiphobia- Fear of height
Iatrophobia- Fear of going to the doctor or of doctors
Lygophobia- Fear of darkness
Myctophobia- Fear of darkness

Hm... Just some of them. :p I don't have that many phobias anymore, though!

I just used to be much more scared when I was younger...

By the way, why so many same phobias have different names?

I’m glad you aren’t as afraid as you once were.
As for the medical terminology itself, you can blame the Latin language for most of that.

Oooh a claustrophiliac…I can relate, me too, I used to totally be into spelunking and people could never understand how I could feel so comfortable wedged into the tiniest crevice hundreds of feet underground in the dark.
But I totally dug it.

The following is interesting, not because I have it but I'm curious about what makes this different from someone who simply loves sex?
erophilialove, love-making

The key word I believe is "obsessive".

Melophilia is a huge one for me….the love of music.
It can be so incredibly powerful to me, in fact, my version of Hell would be me strapped to a chair forced to listen to smooth jazz or perhaps a demon that looked exactly like (because he is) Kenny G would play for all eternity.
But it can bring out all the emotions for me in a way that nothing else can.
