Hello all,

I recently wrote the following email to the Beachy Amish site and an Amish Newspaper:
=================================================
Dear Sirs,

as far as I know far more Amish people suffer from Gilbert Syndrome than the average population:
https://www.genetests.org/tests/details.php?id=173820

Recently, a study came out indicating that it might be possible to "quasi-cure" gilberts syndrome with the so called "paleolithic (ketogenic) diet":
http://pubs.sciepub.com/ajmcr/3/4/9/

Now, of course this study involved only one person, but still this is, as far as I know, the first scientifically documented case of a "quasi Gilbert Syndrome cure". There exists no known medical cure for Gilberts Syndrome.

So this information could possibly be a very valuable for the Gilbert Syndrome sufferers among the Amish people and thought that you might want to print an article about it.

Please confirm that you received this email :)

Best regards,

Mr. ... from Austria, Central Europe

but did not receive a reply.

Can anyone with ties to the Amish people please forward this to them or post this in Amish forums? If they have forums. LOL!!!

Thanks,

best regards

I don't think they have forums. I think you'd literally have to drive to their farm and tell them in person.

Go online and loom for Amish made furniture. You can probably get a conversation going.

It's a very isolated community. They don't share too much about themselves or their people to strangers. Good luck, though! I bet that you can get some information somewhere if you push hard enough :)

I did a quick google search...it's not specific for what you want, but I think you can make it work.

Place an ad in a popular Amish newspaper called, “The Budget,” which is an informational newspaper that is subscribed to and read by the Amish all over the United States. Place the ad in the "Community Bulletin Board" section and say, for example, "I'm looking for the family of Henry Kauffman to purchase a crafted handmade wood cabinet to match one I received as a gift. The Kauffmans, I believe, are Pennsylvania Dutch, but moved away from Lancaster County within the past ten years. Please contact me at (555) 555-5555 or write to 12345 City Road, Anytown, CA, 55555 with this information. Thank you."

Good luck. I think email is a pretty ineffective way to reach them. A letter or newspaper advertisement maybe...
