I was wondering if anyone else here is possibly not only a fan of old video games, but still plays them as well
The ones to which I returned this year were Fallout 2, Baldur's Gate II, Heroes of Might & Magic III (if you play it, the steam version sucks, would recommend avoiding it. Gog is much better, with the hota [horn of the abyss mod] if you want to get extra zesty. VCMI is also worth investigating), Rollercoaster Tycoon (Classic and OpenRCT2), and Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones
I've also fiddled with Age of Empires II, Heroes of Might & Magic II and the og Fallout (Fallout Fixt), but to a lesser degree
Old games I didn't play during my youth that have been a thing are Icewind Dale and Planescape Torment. Between those two, I had an especially good time with ID. It's very similar to BG2 so that's cozy, but with more of a focus on battle vs. the characters and plot. Like one long dungeon crawl
