Let's face it: the system has flaws. The theory has holes in it. What would you do to improve MBTI theory and the typing system?

The two biggest flaws of typology are a lack of good definition and the methodology being based on self-report.

The functions need to be defined in such a way that they include the most basic common denominator that applies to any person in possession of that function regardless of any other experiences and factors influencing the person. In other words, it is necessary to peel away all of the layers of useless data which is not directly related to the function itself, and to reach the absolute rule, what applies universally, with additional explanations into how development, functional hierarchy and seeming aberrations occur and excercise influence.

The definitions need to be universally codified - like the DSM for example.

The methodology for the identification of type needs to dramatically changed to being verified empirically (eg. neuro imaging) and not via self report.

The philosophies of the MBTI need to be rewritten to accommodate the above. If type can be absolutely determined using empirical means, strong anti-discrimination policies need to exist, and the notion that every person is the ultimate judge of their type will stop to exist.
