I used to mess around with it with one of my dad's. He is certified and has been doing it for around 30 years. It's neat. I think that one day I will go ahead and get certified and get my own setup.
Can you describe what you like about it?
I'm curious about it, but have absolutely no experience (except FRS-type handhelds). I'm thinking about trying out some sort of radio, but where I live CB radio is dead. And to use amateur radio, you need a licence.
I like how at night from Missouri we were able to talk to people in Louisiana, I find the theory of radio wave propagation intriguing. There are so many variables to consider when using ham radio or Morse code. I suppose that is why I am an electronics technician.
