There are odder hobbies to have imo, I think anything that makes us happy is good for us as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else. Jobs are pretty scarce around here with the economy and all. I went from doing archaeology to being a telephone operator and now working as a convenience store clerk. At 30 it isn't exactly where I saw myself ten years ago. Still, I try not to give up hope...I really just need to apply myself more towards something that I enjoy that can help build me a future with someone.

That is precisely why I list gaming as an addiction, I spend far too much money on it that I don't need to be spending on it...yet I cannot help myself. In regards to that particular game...it is alot of fun, I had to take a break from it because it can literally suck me into it for 5+ hour stretches if I'm not careful. My king seemed to act alot like Bill Clinton, and my merchant is a slut of biblical proportions...he has children running around everywhere. My knight comes home one day and I notice that one of his supposed children is actually the Merchant's. God that game is crazy. Sucks I can't loan it to you ><

Depends on the mood honestly I started playing on an Intelivision, then a Nintendo, SNES, Sega Genesis, N64, PS1-3, Xbox/360, and a varying different number of PC's. I played everything, from sports games to Mario Brothers, to almost every single RPG I can get my hands on. I love strategy games like the Total War games on PC, I also like civilization building games...I really love this game called Tropico where you play a dictator of a 3rd world island nation. I recently picked up the Sims Medieval and really got a kick out of it. I sometimes play NCAA 08, they got a mode where you can play from a single players perspective that you create and play them through all their college games. Since I'm a big fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide generally around football season I'll crank that game up and play it some. Recently, well before the Playstation network went down, I picked up Call of Duty Black Ops to enjoy shooting at other people with friends I make online and in real life.

I've had similar difficulties. My sister kinda thwacked me over the head with the bass though...not literally, but she and her hubbie bought me an acoustic Fender and I've been tinkering with it ever since. My mind shifts so fast in regards to what I'm interested in I'm always digging into something with passion then get bored and want to fiddle with something else...thus the video game addiction ><

Rage Against the Machine is my all time favorite band. I can play some of Calm Like a Bomb on my bass, not good enough for public consumption just yet. Audioslave had some good tunes, overall I was pleased by their music. I'm sorry about your geographical location being a hindrance to your passion for music

I had a pretty bad fear of large gatherings of people when I was younger, kept me from attending many shows that I think I would have enjoyed. Now there are many bands I'd love to go and experience first hand, just haven't seemed to have the opportunity >< I remember lucking up when I was working as a field tech in Hattiesburg, Mississippi...a dive I frequented had an old blues musician roll into town and play a night, I can't remember his name to this day but he was something special.

What is this Mars Volta you speak of? I don't often experience new music until someone slaps me with it.

Well New Zealand always sounded like an interesting place to explore period, but I do hope you are able to see them again...just them headlining. I missed my opportunity to see Black Sabbath on their reunion tour, that kills me to this day.

I was still working in mental health, doing three 10pm to 8am's fri,sat, sunday- graveyard shifts. I got home that monday and my best friend called me and asked me if I wanted to go to Louisiana for a Tool concert(he had an extra ticket). We linked up an hour later with one of his buds and drove from Bama to Shreveport in a beat up panel van...uncomfortable as hell. The drive took like 12 or so hours I think, we were on a number of mind altering substances so it is tough for me to remember time clearly. I know we had just enough time to check into our hotel, get a quick shower and snag some food before the show...no real rest for me except the little naps I caught in the van. The show was awesome, the air thick with humidity but it felt cold inside the amphitheater even though I was sweating like hell. I remember the music feeling like it was pulsing right through me, the visual effects are just a blur in my mind but I just stood there and soaked it in. After the show was a night of debauchery I've yet to match, we made it back home the next evening. If I ever get the chance to see them again, I'll jump at it.

One of my favorite 'Stones songs, gotta be a version with the sitar in it though...loses alot of its punch without it. I dug the Tool song you linked, got to hear it live in Shreveport, Louisiana a number of years back...one of the best damn weekends of my life.
