What is the difference between value and importance?

I don't think the terms are quite synonymous. At least on some level, value implies importance - but not the reverse.
If one considers something valuable, then at the very least, that thing will also be important to that person. But arguably important things or persons won't necessarily be seen as valuable - think of Donald Trump, for instance. He is objectively an important political figure, but it's not clear that he is an objectively valuable one.
