INTJ
Hey there, i'm an INTJ and I'm trying to get closer to an INFJ I've know online for over a year.

I'm terrible at beginning a conversation, although we generally get in a good chat every now and then, it's mostly a message or two every few days, I've mostly initiated all of our conversations so I don't know if he's just not into me or simply thinking to himself, like I can sometimes do to others. He does respond to me quickly and sometimes talkative but I just don't know if it's my fault at getting things rolling, because that can be a bit difficult for me, it also doesn't help I've never been in a relationship at all so this is all a bit foreign to me.

And yes, we are both guys and he's expressed he's mainly into women right now, but he does like guys that have certain characteristics and those were very relative to me. I was thinking about trying to get him over for his birthday that'll be coming up in the next few months by giving him a gift or two on his wishlist on steam because he loves it so much, but I don't know if this'll make him think I am weird, even though I know he'll appreciate it, I don't want to come off too strongly since I only know him online. We do share many passions, music, games, anime, etc, I've also tried acting a lot more extroverted than normal, not a lot, just enough to try and initiate something as I've learned people will not come near you if you act really introverted and reserved like I normally do so I wanted to draw his attention.

I'd really like some information on this, it's been bugging me for a long time now.

You're going to have to take a greater initiative in this situation. It's quite possible he returns your feelings but isn't sure you are actually interested. On the other hand, he may not return your exact emotions but nevertheless values your friendship and thus does not know what to do at this point. I'd try to come off as a little stronger (but not in any kind of creepy way, try to be more nurturing than anything else) and see how he reacts.

INFJs can usually sense when someone has a romantic interest in them, although I'm not really sure how that works online. Do you guys live nearby or would that be a long distance thing?
