  • Well, in my case I don't know of any direct relation that also has this going on, but maybe it's skipped a generation or something. ;)
I'm not alone!! So do they also get a lot of teasing about never mastering right and left?
I have let the kids do dishes before...I didn't even bother with watching them. Thy loaded the dishwasher. I will never be as hard on hem as my dad was to me. Ever.
Hey...On the weekends the others in the house do it...but I dont work so I feel obligated to do the house work durring the week. The kids have chores, but its not dishes...
Thanks for the rep! I am almost finished with Leviathan. I expect I will be done with it in the next hour or so. From what I have read so far, I find the world and the idea of it to be quite good and his writing style is enjoyable. The Steampunk aspects of the book are very interesting. However, I can't seem to get attached to his characters. They act a bit young for the ages they are supposed to be and just aren't very charming. I'll let you know anything else when I finish it.
    Preference for the common good.
I'm all for personal freedom but I think that stems from the common good of the people. It is for the good of the people that they decide what is right for themselves but they should also take into account the needs of others. Look at government programs for an example of this. The problem with them is that people look to them as an intrusion on their personal freedoms even when they are helping the less fortunate. They complain about taxes and then complain about road conditions and the education system. If we worked together as a whole and worried less about individual concerns then we wouldn't have that issue, and government programs would be less prevalent, and thus there would be less to complain about. Think about what would happen if the community took on the responsibility of making sure their school was in working condition as opposed to leaving everything up to someone else because they're too busy thinking about themselves and how they don't have "the time" for things like that.

I'll end with a selfish reason. If you don't take care of those who have less than you they are going to come around and bite you in the ass.
Thank you Ecton. I will try my best, but I'm sure you understand, having been in that place yourself, that overcoming the fear is a very difficult task. I do want to get out more, but right now, I don't feel as though I have the right people around me to do so. I'm not comfortable around any of the friends I have, I long for somebody new, who I want to see.
Thanks Ecton, it was comforting to read your rep comment. It was a tough day in my head again.
Thanks for the rep Ecton. I hope things get better for the children involved; a home is so important to grow up in, with nice surroundings that they can establish "attachment" to.
    Ecton! How are you??
Just wanted to give you an update (sounds strange to me as I type this)---things have actually turned 180 degrees around and we are technically "together" at the moment. Makes me get all knotty in the stomach, especially since this is my first! But I'd love it if you could continue contributing your two cents along the way~ hope you're well and happy!!
:D thanks for the rep, and the validation. *HUGS* If its any consolation, I think you're worth something :D
