Can we talk about something stupid for a minute? There is a new update to firefox. I'm sure it's phenomenally better, but the overhaul of the appearance and layout was a mistake. For those who don't know, design psychology deals with how things should and shouldn't be organized, and a big part of it is making it user-friendly. When the user has to get a feel for how to use something, your design failed. This isn't only a problem with firefox, either. Several software programs have made this mistake, the biggest being windows 10 (imo)

if more people are using other browsers, changing its usability doesn't affect many people, and change is the best option available. as for Windows 10, the changes made weren't just for cosmetic reasons. Microsoft was facing a future their OS wasn't part of (tablets and mobile devices). they had to rearchitect everything to account for it.

Fair enough. and EXCUSE YOU! I USE FIREFOX :sob:

it's not only about cosmetics, it's also about making it easy to use, which, at least to me, windows 10 isn't.

And now their line of tablets and smart phones are all but defunct.

Great job Microsoft

I don't think that's their fault. It's mostly that they were too late, and no one wanted to invest into making apps for yet another platform.

That's true. I'm just still bitter over Windows 10. I mean the steps you to have take just to stop automatic updates. And the idiotic decision to gut the control panel and move some settings into a pointl- No, not doing that to myself again. Not again...

People don't buy operating systems anymore. They'd rather sell their privacy

Yeah, privacy is almost a thing of the past.

I use Duck Duck Go, pay for a VPN that doesn't keep logs, and don't go near social media sites. But I still own an android phone. And even taking precautions, rooting the phone and disabling some of Google's more intrusive settings, I'm still screwed in regards to privacy. Google still knows enough about me to suggest ads that are based on my online behaviors and history.

It's a losing battle. But hey, at least Google knows what porn sites I'll prefer.

I am still using firefox. Just got the update today. I must say that it doesn't go very well with my persona/theme.

I am luckily still in use of win7 on my pc, though I have a surface 3 with an win10 OS. It's always a big operation finding the right tool, in comparison to back when you had it handily figured out how the system was structured with XP. I'm just glad they didn't get rid of the Windows Control Panel altogether. They just hid it where it's nowhere to be found by any idiot.
