I dont really understand why this is a big deal. Why vote now as opposed to 2020?

Leaving the EU requires a broader mandate. The House of Commons should vote to approve.

After repeatedly promising not to call an election, Theresa May has.... called an election. Because she wants to help the country ?? or ?? because her party is way ahead in the polls. The opposition leader is a joke. It's not a healthy democracy. Most of her own party hate her.

Democracy is great. But not when a lot of the media is owned and controlled by one party. A lot of the electorate are a lot older and uneducated. (sad but true) and those in power are bought and paid for by rich people, from other countries. So what can go wrong ?

Side note, the pound has fallen 20% since voting to leave the EU. When the jobs start to go, (they already are) and prices shoot up (they already are) there will be a big argument. hence call an election now, before the poo hits the fan. The whole thing is absurd. I guess Putin is loving it all. he likes to "holiday" abroad. there are a lot of empty buildings in London whilst homelessness is an ever growing problem. They're mostly owned as investments.

for any country to become a "one party state" is bad news. that's whats happening here. Oh and it rains. a lot. ;)

What about Scotland? Is May stealing the show from the provincial folks in the North?

The Institute for Fiscal Studies said the Tories had very few tax or spending commitments in their manifesto.

Labour, in contrast, was proposing very big increases in tax and spending.

[...]

He added that the IFS's assessment of the Conservatives' plans indicated they would "damage the economy and public services with five more years of damaging austerity".

There is not much money to save after seven years of austerity, beginning in 2010. Is there?
