When you are at a point where nearly every song could jerk tears from you, what song is there that calms you and helps you to regain inner peace? What song is there that gives you the feeling that things are going to be alright?

My (probably a bit eccentric) entry

Choral music does it for me, particularly renaissance madrigals, the happy ones mostly. I'm a classically trained vocalist, and the wonderous things that can be done with the human voice just makes me feel a lot better about everything.

I don't find any one song comforting, except maybe Clair de Lune. What gives me the biggest comfort is to grab my guitar and play some simple instrumental stuff myself....no particular song, just playing. Something happens deep inside me as I hit those strings. It's always been this way for me.

Above all, this song (it's called Wonderwall):

and Full Circle by Loreena McKennitt

Dido's Here with me almost always works. From the first second. Especially this live version.

When I was in kindergarten, they played this song while we were working. It brings back many memories.
