I think that the people who have their hands on the levers of power have orchestrated a situation whereby in order to get an education people must get themselves in massive debt

People take mortgages out to buy homes but now they are taking them out to get educations as well

The idea behind this is simple: the person who owes the debt is subject to the lender

The people who engineer our system are bankers (central bankers)

Banking works by lending money to people who then pay interest on their loan. bankers have learned that not only can you make a lot of money by getting people in debt to you but that you can also control people by having them in debt especially when you control the government as the government will act as your enforcer to retreive the debt

And how do you control a government? You get the government in debt to you!

So now the governments are indebted to the bankers and the citizens are indebted to the bankers; it doesn't need to be this way because governments can issue their own interest free currency but the privately owned central banks currently issue the money with interest attached

People are having to find other things they can trade to try and alleviate the debt. Money is anything people agree to ascribe value to. Sex has huge value because not only is it a procreational necesity but it is a strong driver in human behaviour

The bankers who have sought to put a dollar sign on everything on our planet are making the world in their image, where peoples bodies have a dollar value. perhaps that's not accurate as the dollar is currently collapsing, but a monetary value anyway

So yeah....people are getting desperate as conditions get more desperate. Things are going to get much worse because the majority of people are still refusing to engage with this reality and that allows the perpetrators of these crimes to continue carrying out their crimes

Its only when enough people say no that the nightmare will stop but first they have to recognise and acknowledge that they are in a nightmare

Well who do you think will have the most money to spend?

If you want to solicit their services yourself, beyond the collapse of the dollar through hyper inflation, might i suggest that you invest in tangible assets. Perhaps some gold, silver and/or bitcoin. Useful skills also are a good idea

I think having something useful to trade is the key unless of course you'd like to try your own luck on the street corner

I'm not convinced that you've read the article, muir.

I couldn't find anything about student debt in the whole piece... this isn't about normal people (who would probably rather just be in debt), this is about spoiled rich kids who become prostitutes because they can't stand the thought of ever being like everyone else. They like shopping and spoiling themselves all the time, they don't seem to care about their futures because chances are they'll find someone else who will support them (one of them actually has a boyfriend who knows all about her lifestyle).

They're taking cabs everywhere they go, they buy designer shoes, get expensive haircuts, etc., etc. These are not things that they are doing out of desperation, they're doing it because they're materialistic... and I guess because they've convinced themselves that it doesn't matter to them.

I guess I should feel sorry for them but since they have it all and they're not even doing anything worthwhile with the money, I actually don't feel sorry for them. They deserve everything they get... I find it repulsive that anyone could be so superficial and so materialistic that they're willing to put themselves through all of that so that they can buy an overpriced handbag or get some $700 hairstyle. If they were doing it because they were desperate or because they wanted to do some good or even because they wanted to invest it in their future, I might be able to understand, but to go through all of that and piss it away on disposable crap is pathetic. Maybe that's harsh but I can't help it-- I have more respect for animals than I do for these girls.

I think this has always gone on and it isn't as shocking as many might think. It seems to be more of an upper class thing, at least with one of the girls. I think so because of her statement that it is more demeaning to be a waitress (probably views it as a servant like her parent have) than to have sex that no one is going to find out about.

I don't think it is as gross as Gul does, I guess because I've had to do work I didn't want to in my life just as these girls may not want to touch gross old men. But it's a pay check, they just don't have to wait til lunch to jack off in the bathroom. I do feel bad for them if something bad happens though, I mean they aren't bad people. It's not like they are doing anything wrong.

I do not believe this is conspiracy related as muir states, it's just upper level people trying to live an upper class lifestyle w/o the hard work of waiting til you graduate and having your husband from a good family buy it for you.

i think it is unfortunate that sex work pays more than most jobs. But that's capitalism for you.

I know a girl who does this. She's in nursing school and she ain't no dummy.

Still, I don't like it. I think there is more to... Life?

i feel like i sell my soul every time i go to my normal dumb job for christsakes... the article said something to the effect that these girls are not into drugs *BULLSHIT* anyway if they can hang with that lifestyle... good for them

Why do they have to be into drugs to be in that line of work?

Odd. Ill never get the lack of respect for oneself that would allow them to do this.

Recently there has been a rise in number of students selling sex for money. Some use it to pay for their tuition and college debt. Others use it to earn extra cash on the side to be able to allow themselves the kind of life style that they were striving for but couldn't get being poor students.

What are your views on this phenomenon?
http://www.preciouswilliams.com/2010/03/an-education-ivy-league-hookers.html

Both of the young women were self admitted shopaholics....addicts as it were. Selling our bodies for cash is done in wide range of ways - yes? From hard labor in the mines to pushing a button at the register. Getting intimate with men who are repugnant or putting up with the boss who demeans and demoralizes is all the same in the end.

I heard someone say the other day that we are the only species on this planet that has to pay to live.

Don't care. It's not me, nor do I want their services. Not applicable.

they don't have to be, you're right... i'm sure there is a percentage who don't partake in such activities... i'm calling bullshit on this sentence:
These students-for-hire don’t have drug habits or money issues (they all come from comfortable middle-class homes) and they are not yearning to be rescued.
she's assuming that middle-class families don't have drug habits (or money/psychological issues for that matter)...

i think she is just trying to say that they don't come from a family that has had to struggle to make ends meet, and their parents are paying their bills for college.

on the other hand They obviously have personal money problems - they can't afford expensive outfits!

yeah, i gotcha *throws hands up to the MTV generation that feels being a prostitute is "less demeaning" than being a waitress*

I suppose that when it comes down to it there really is no rational reason to hold these people in contempt. We're not exactly living in a puritanical culture anymore so if people want to do this then they can do it... and I'm sure that there are people out there who would defend this sort of thing as acceptable.

Plenty of people in college have sex with people they've just met, often while drunk. It's risky and dangerous anyway. I don't see why people who are willing to engage in this wouldn't be willing to monetize what they'd be doing either way.

Personally before I even got into college I considered the idea of selling my panties on craigslist once I became of age (never followed through on it). I suppose that's marginally similar.

I don't really see a problem with it.

My friend (who's much older than I am, an ex-CIA guy) and I have talked about this before. He has female friends with full time jobs and Master's degrees who escort on the side for shopping money, get paid well and ENJOY IT.

The typical experience for women (in America at least) with men is being burned by some asshole who seduced her for free sex and then dumped her.

After going through that over and over again I don't blame women for wanting to use their sexuality for personal gain.

If I were a female I would escort on the side. Charge a high enough price and most likely the men who'll want to see you will be well groomed and respectful. Although I DEFINITELY feel that men get the shorter end of the stick when it comes to paying for sex, it' pretty cool to see a female get the better end of the deal since so many aspects of Western culture lean in favor towards men.
