Has anyone tried or had experience with polyphasic sleep? My interests lie in getting by with less sleep each night, something I cannot do on a normal sleep routine.

At one point I gave serious consideration to setting up a routine for this. The problem is that I absolutely require 6+ hours of normal sleep to function close to normal capacity. Even at 6 hours I can feel my mind slower and my normal tact is usually gone. So a transition into a sleep routine as such would be monumentally challenging for me in my everyday work environment.

Doesn't sound like a good idea. Breaking up sleep always adds falling-alseep and waking-up time.
