And an oblig passage

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

From the article:

According to a description she posted on Facebook, she stood up and loudly said, “This is a violation of your Fourth Amendment rights. You don’t have to show them *shit*!!!” She then used Google Translate to repeat her message in Spanish, reassuring the Spanish-speaking woman sitting beside her and probably countless other fellow passengers.

Fuck yes!!! :tiphat:

Pretty soon I'm expecting they'll just start shooting people who don't seem like they belong just as a precaution. [foot note: inspired by true-ish events]

I'm glad you all find this as fucked up as I do

Yes sir, it's way fucked up.
This has had me weepy for days...

Here in Indianapolis, a family that has been here for years has been separated. The husband/father has already been deported, the wife/mother is about to get deported and the kids are US citizens. Thankfully, ICE is allowing the mother to get passports for her children so they can all be uprooted and shipped to Mexico together...

The good news is, with them gone, I can have my dream job of doing shitty landscaping work for $7.50 an hour and my daughters can grow up to be budget motel housekeepers. Yay opportunities! Finally someone cares about my white privilege!

This world needs more badasses

There's nothing more revolting than abusive authority. Really, what a waste it is to abuse power.

I absolutely agree with you @Pin!

I love this.

This happens quite frequently here since I am a few hours away from the Mexican border, and it is sickening how some border patrol agents abuse their authority and power. Absolute injustice. Makes my blood boil.

Usually those who are most inept at handling power will seek to find places where they can feel in power and abuse it - the dumbest go for the customer-visible positions like law enforcement (these guys) but others are more clever and go for higher power positions - now we are talking politicians primarily. In any case they are a PITA to deal with.

**Knew someone (who was fired for abusing his position and actually causing real infrastructural problems at the work place) who always loved to spy on people's activities and then look for something to "nail" them with before going down to them and trying to scare the crap out of them. Of course he wanted to be a cop but would have thankfully been denied quickly.

Yes, it is an unfortunate theme that some ill-minded people will seek places where power and authority are expected, and they absolutely love to abuse it and try to be sneaky about it---thankfully though, some of them do get caught and justice is implemented, however other times, they do not and they get away with it; such as certain politicians. Corruption is much too common.

I would like to say I am a big believer in karma, and eventually, they will all face it at some point.

LOL! Nooooo haha

Haha don't worry Wyote! You're way too awesome, you're the good sneaky kind!

Sneaky eh, I see why our admin felt like highlighting =) - but yes it is all true and there is far too much corruption hidden away under a thin veneer of propriety - that is apparently what our politico-economic system is based on given various leaks of the recent years (Panama, Snowden, Assange, Manning, and all the rest as it is now difficult to keep track since there are so many.)

However I am not so sure about karma - I do see many bad people getting away with evil (sometimes up close and personal) while those who try to do good are silenced (understand neutralized) prematurely if necessary - there is no justice in our world as it is, even though I was naive enough to think there was some years ago. On the other hand I'm not sure it would be right to "neutralize" the bad ones the way they so easily do with those they consider their enemies - it's a mess and we sort of only get the choice to not create more poisonous situations, and maybe yes there is karma and those responsible will be dealt with by some other more intelligent being capable of balancing it all out.

Yes, that is actually quite true.

Indeed there are many good people who have been dealt with a bad card in hand; and bad people getting a slap in the wrist and given a silver-platter. It's really disgusting how it all works sometimes.

I try to keep a positive view about justice though, but I am not going to lie, I have been disappointed quite frequently in the last few years. Every now and then, I do see some form of good deeds happen and bad people getting what they truly deserve. Eventually I do hope things do turn around for the better, but my cynicism tells me that it might a long while till things do ever drastically change in the world.

I would say you are on a good path then with this line of thinking - I was heavily invested in what happens to the world as a whole until finding out I'm too small and insignificant to change it all significantly and too small to sort truth and untruth from the propaganda pouring out of various media outlets.

Instead we can always do good on a small scale (or do something to reinstate justice in an unjust situation involving someone close to us) so that is something always worth doing, even if it takes concentrated work and the results are relatively small when thinking on a grand scale. Besides, it is very satisfying work to do. (Just a thought, I am not trying to preach nor do I want to say that is the only right way to do it, it is just my way now that it has allowed itself to remain effective and meaningful over the years.)
