Is anyone surprised? Honestly?????

Arab hate: A Muslim Brotherhood rally in Cairo

Why are you posting this? It seems like such a pointless story to post.

The Muslim Brotherhood is a massive organization, and just because some of its members in Egypt, a country which has historically clashed with Israel, are espousing hateful views doesn't mean that all Muslim brothers feel that way. It is the same as if someone were to post yet another article about the Westboro Baptist church and that article happened to portray that one church as representing all the Christians in the state they were protesting. It says about 5000 people were at the rally, but there are over 2 million Muslim brothers. The article is ridiculous.

I find it funny that considering Islams heritage, like Christianity's heritage being Judaism, that anyone from either religion would want to kill the Jews, the descendants of their religions forefathers.
It appears that the only man that is capable of bringing the Jews, the Christians and the Muslims together is Moses.

I'm posting it because everyone wants to call it the "Arab Spring" when in fact they are going from the frying pan into the fire.

Matariki:

Islam has historically considered Chrsitians and Jews second class citizens, but their discrimination has not been deadly. The change came when Hitler allied with the Chief Mufti of Jerusalem, and the nazis exported 2000 years of antisemitism to the muslims. It is only SINCE this cultural exchange that muslims have levied the blood libel, etc.

For a much more complete discussion of the history of antisemitism, the best book on the subject is WHY THE JEWS by Dennis Prager.

I wonder why Arabs don't try to reenslave the Jews.

The Daily Caller, the news site you posted a link to, was established by Dick Cheney's cohorts, you know the guys who brought us the intel on Sadam's weapons of mass destruction.

If the Arab spring is as dangerous to Israel as you believe, please do us the curtesy of posting links to more reputable sources.

Not just dangerous to Israel, but to Jews. This is not a case of disliking a neighboring country's policies, but a deep seated hatred of an entire people.

Where did this quote come from?

I think people like to think that Islam is "evil" or "intolerant" That may be true to some extent but it is the way it's taught that makes it that way (same with christianity) There is nothing in the book itself to indicate those things.

"Surely those who believe, and those who are Jews, and the Christians, and the sabians, whoever believes in Allah (*meaning one God in this context*) and the last day and does good, they shall have their reward from their Lord and there is no fear for them, nor shall they grieve." - Surah II, 62 Qur'an

I suppose we (the US) ought to provide Israel with two and a half billion dollars a year in military aid and use all our diplomatic power to keep the UN security counsel from passing any anti Israeli resolutions.

Oh, we are doing that..........................

Maybe we should declare war on Islam?

The Hadiths. Very appropriate time to read some of the history of this. Hamas has adopted the bad, and they are an arm of MB. Everyone should read from the roots of this before the world becomes much worse than it already is.

They should read this, too. Muhammed started having problems when the Jewish people would not accept him as a prophet. That might be quite difficult to live with if it were true, but surely not reason enough to get so upset over it. Anyway, that is where the problems began.

Bernard Lewis also has an interesting book, "The Middle East", just for anyone interested.

I took the time to study Islam, and I think it is a religion of great beauty and lots of potential. But there exists within it elements that can be easily abused. Remember that it is the newest form of monotheism, and unlike Christianity and Judaism, has had no periods of great reformation. YET.

I have personally been friends with American muslims who have adopted American values such as freedom of religion, and they are amazingly GOOD PEOPLE. Islam is essentially form of Ethical Monotheism, and I think it is a very good choice among religions.

However, in most Muslim nations, they have little exposure to human rights except the blurry unfocused bits and pieces they get from TV and the Internet. They are still in the dark ages with regards to things like women's rights and the dignity of the individual. The antisemitism there has a strong cultural base--they raise their kids on hatred of the Jew. It has been this way since WW2 when the Nazis exported European antisemitism to the Muslims. The particular form of Islam that is perculating in the Middle East and surrounding areas (I call it Islamic Fascism) is truly a danger because it is imperialistic, wanting to enforce its medieval values on all the world, sending us back ages in moral progress.

The best thing for the entire world is for Islam to go through a period of Reformation -- meaning the changes are not imposed from the outside, but by muslims themselves. They need to encorporate an additional layer of understanding as to the basic dignity of the individual, and the applications of this idea--to actually encode this into their canon. As I noted earlier, I have known muslims who are certainly at this point. Sadly, not most. And as long as there are people out there who yell things like "We love death like you love life" we are ALL in danger.

Jews are like the canaries in the mines. A group may start by targeting the Jews, but it will never end with JUST Jews -- they will eventually go after all sorts of other people. When you see antisemitism taking hold, it should send off a red flashing light in your mind that you might be next.

Who is everyone? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arab_Spring

Arab Spring is what they're calling the revolutions in Arab countries, which don't appear to have anything to do with animosity toward Jews. People are angry that only a small percentage of the population has access to opportunities in their country while they are suffering and don't have access to those opportunities.

Throw a rock in the water and everything moves. Munitions and fighters from the Arab Spring are already fighting Israel. The Peace Accord for Sinai may be out the window.

Those opportunities? Time will surely tell.

It's important to remember that Isreal is made up to be the 'boogieman' by Arab governments which are predominantly Paternal Autocracies/National Socialist.

Such extremist regimes always need to invent an enemy or they collapse.

Our own biggest enemies, speaking of the world, dwell within us.

That's your first mistake, agglomerating individual action.

@InvisibleJim ,
You may have misinterpreted what I said, and I most likely said it poorly as I have done so many times in the past. I am speaking of individuals, everyone in the world, and the problems within(our own). Our very thoughts were in mind, not our actions. I apologize for typing my heart.

I would need to quote scripture to show what I meant; thus, I shortened it hoping others may see something they might relate to. The fruit of the Spirit is love, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance, etcetera; against such things there is no law. When we embody such things, we walk differently. The enemies within each of us may possibly be argumentative to each individual, but have us walk differently. Things like hatred, strife, envyings, murders, etcetera(kept the list short to try not to offend anyone) are our biggest enemies. I would like to try and keep this discussed at a minimum as to not derail the thread.

I was thinking someone might relate to it.sil(c'est la vie)

I agree that we all have within us competing natures: an inclination to good and an inclination to evil. I am totally with you when I say that the greatest problem in my lfe is GracieRuth.

But lets not oversimplify. The good within me becomes stronger when I make choices to act rightly. Part of that goodness is fighting evil, and not just the evil within, but the evil all around. As the saying goes, all it takes for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing.

We live in a time of rising antisemitism. Holocaust survivors tell us that today in Amsterdam it is worse than the years before the Shoah. Do you understand that it is not safe for a Jew to visit or live in Amsterdam? Or Sweden? You can of course choose to close your eyes to what is going on. You can tell yourself it won't effect you. That does tend to be the norm -- indifference that allows evil to grow.

Hi Gracie Ruth

What do you mean its not safe for a jew to visit or live in Amsterdam or Sweden? What are you basing that on?

Also if there is a rise in 'antisemitism' and by that i take it you mean specifically jews and not other semitic peoples such as arabs, then what do you think is driving that?

If for example you want to campaign to make jews safer what would be the best approach to achieve that?

Do you think the best thing to do is to try and convince people that many people in the world hate jews? Lets say you managed to convince a whole load of people via the internet that many people in the world hate jews.....how will that help jews? What positive change could such a new perception bring to the world?

Would you not be better off asking yourself why there is sometimes animosity towards jews. Then, armed with that knowledge, you could campaign to stop the wellspring of animosity which would then create greater harmony between peoples and acheive the desired result of making jews safer

Surely if you just try to deal with the symptom (some bad feeling towards jews) and not the problem (whatever is generating that bad feeling) then you will not solve the original problem of jews not feeling safe?

So why do you think there is a rise in animosity towards jews?
