Obama sells out the Brits?

Obama is a fool.

More like the US government sold out the Brits...

Information is always worth its weight in gold when it comes to politics. I think you are naive if you think this is the worst thing any government would do and does in the world arena. Sure you can trust the government, ask an Indian is a favorite bumper sticker of mine. As for Obama, I would say that Regan was much worse because during his reign, for example, the US trained death squads for the Shah of Iran. Politics in general is a corrupt business.

Well, i think that nuclear weapons are something that needs to just stop existing. I like Obama but this was a low blow.

You only sell what you think you owe. And the thing is that in our world you only buy in dollars...

I cant wait for this asshole to get booted out in the next election, do you think the Brits will be welcoming his campaign through there again with such ferocity? Conservatives had it right before he was even elected, Jimmy Carter II, he will go down in infamy with him as a pair of the shittiest presidents in modern history. Setting us back 10 steps.

Presidents are nothing more than figureheads. The person in the spotlight is usually severely limited by the harsh halo of brillant light surrounding them. The true powerbrokers don't change from president to president would be my guess.

Just extremely embarrassing. Kissing the Chicoms asses, bowing to people who despise our country, then spitting in the eye of our most valued allies... utterly pathetic. This man makes Bush look like a master diplomat, at least Bush, while often misguided, had testicles.

They arent as powerless as people think. They may not control the economy but they can severely impact it with disastrous policies... and the President is usually the leader of his party, Obamacare was his idea, just because it came from congress doesnt mean it wasn't him and his handlers who decided we needed to crush our economy with it.

I voted for, and was a strong Obama supporter. My take on the events of the past decade and especially the last 2 years (which included some very grave disappointments and cycles of disillusionment) is that whoever the man (or one day, woman) who occupies the White House... whatever their personal agenda or idealism or integrity... the machine of the American Capitalist War Machine will assimilate them and render them a figurehead.

I don't hate my president. I don't think he's a lie. But I do think my country has twisted itself into a shape that no one man, woman or party can untwist. It's gone too far beyond ideals and ideology. It seems to have an impetus and agenda of it's own, which does not represent or even acknowledge the needs and will of the majority of it's people.

Do I smell some angsty conservatism?

Agreed, Obama isn't the best president ever.
Was this info sharing a mistake? Yes.
Do i want Palin in office rather than Obama? Hell no.
Obama is much better than Bush on so many different levels and plus, "Obamacare" is not going to crush our economy.

Yes, this ideal is capitalism and profit above all else.

I can see that you are passionate, like always Billy. I don't particularly feel like debating tonight since I am looking forward to a relaxing weekend and you are particularily relentless when you get going. Perhaps we could debate some other day...(I'll totally kick your ass too)

I'm still waiting for a republican to grow some balls and trim the glut from the DoD...

Pretty much this.

Athough, I pretty much abstain from saying anything in regards to what we "should and should not do" in this country outside of a few pressing social/domestic issues (and health care is not one of them). I do not know how to fix it, I will never know how to fix it, and I just hope that others will sort something out. There is nothing I can do, and opening my mouth can have no benifit to it all so I pretty much choose to sit back, watch, hope, and pray that it all works itself out in the end.

Facts and history disprove your assumption, Billy. But of course you're entitled to it, all the same, if it supports your belief system and comforts your personal moral outrage :) Anyone suggesting a National Healthcare System of any description arrived on the scene with Barack Obama in 2008 would do well to do a little research. Whether you approve or oppose Federally-supported Healthcare in America, facts are integral to the dialogue :)

An effort to provide a national heathcare system (the tiniest embryo of which is what the Republican Party and conservative pundits have decided to exaggerate and brand "Obamacare") has existed for nearly as long as the country itself has. To suggest this effort is an outrageous and inconceivable act of modern liberal socialism is - quite frankly - a case of not knowing our country's history:

It'd be awesome if we didn't manufacture and sell death, you know, like WMD. Didn't we do something like invade and occupy a country because someone lied about WMDs existing there?

I'm British and I'm not particularly bothered that the US gave away that info about the nuclear missiles.

Russia will have known how strong our nuclear deterent was anyway.

They are trying to reduce the nuclear stocks and to do this in an even way they need to know how many missiles are out there...right?

Nuclear weapons are probably one of the most pressing concerns our species faces and any steps to reduce this threat have to be a good thing. But each side has to b sure that the other side is being honest about how much fire power they are packing.

The Telegraph is a very conservative paper and is just trying to provoke an emotional response in it's readers.

I wanted to be a journalist when i was younger but when i learnt about the realities of the media i lost interest. The media is not really there to inform the public. It is there to shape the way you think and feel about things. They are not kind hearted public institutions that want to benefit the public, they are privately owned, highly centralised, profit orientated businesses with clear political biases.

The Telegraph for example was owned at one point by Conrad Black who also controlled the Jerusalem Post and the Chicago Sun Times. He was convicted of fraud by a US court and is now being pursued by the IRS for failure to pay taxes....he's a crook

You have to step back from it and not let yourself get emotionally hooked by it. Don't let it get your pulse rate up. Assess it critically. You can be sure that what they are telling you is not the whole story.

They want to manipulate you emotionally.....you have to ask yourself if you are going to let them do that...it's your choice....be an individual, thinking for yourself and listening to all sides of the situation or give into what are pretty base animalistic emotional responses such as anger or hate
