Let's talk about his voice. He's quite well-known for it, and I'd be interested in discussing what it offers when we listen to it. His voice seems (to me) to inherently carry wisdom and authority without being controlling or authoritarian in spite of being influential. And he also seems to carry himself as though he's untouchable. Anyone know what I mean, or experience the same thing or something else?

Maybe that's reason that he often has roll of "wise man"/guide in movies...

Yes, I agree. It's difficult for me to imagine him playing a frivolous character. At one point during the interview, the interviewer distinguishes Freeman as an actor rather than a movie star, which I think is interesting.

There are actors who have that "guide" aura..I think that Cambell in his work on monomyth has special name for that kind of figure, can't remember now (too old or too stupid, hahahha). Wise man or woman who helps the hero to overcome obstacles and understand world:)
I like Tomy Lee Jones voice as well, or Madeline Stowe's (her does not have this kind of "aura" as Freeman's, ofcourse).

ROFL! Do I have a treat for you, then. I used to watch The Electric Company in my youth (a children's reading program that took more from Laugh-In than anything else). See Morgan in his younger days, you dig? :D

Contains a young Rita Moreno and Morgan:

I know what you mean. He's also a big reason why I watch Through The Wormhole. Best documentary voice ever!

Oh goodness, oh my.. Scandalous!! :p I don't quite know how to respond to this. But humble beginnings and the fact that he sings about reading has only affirmed my appreciation of him. :D Thanks Arbygil. :)

morgan freeman rode a train through my city recently (stuttgart). there's a picture of him somewhere getting off an s-bahn at stuttgart hauptbahnhof. i'm there literally every day. you have no idea how bad i wish i was there, everyone was talking about it. everyone in the world loves morgan freeman. everyone.

my boyfriend said if we met him he would have asked him to do his voicemail message. pretty much the best idea ever. morgan freeman's voice: "hello. you have reached the voicemail box of (your name here). please leave a message after the tone." i would be SO STOKED.

I was just thinking I'd like to have one of those "go to sleep" recordings with him telling me how lovely and beautiful I am.
Mmmmmmm.....

Hahahaha
