Post any song lyrics, in whole or in part, that you feel resonate with you in your current mood, your life of recent, or you in general.

I'll start..

<< Tell me why do we work over-time looking for that "someone"? >>

m-flo: cozmo-naughty

'Point out the obvious, tell me how dangerous, then bottle every fight in an "it isn't right" and leave me alone.'

'Is this the life that you lead? Or the life that's led for you? Will you take the road that's been laid out before you?'

'I'm racking my brain for a new improved way to let you know you're more to me than I know how to say... if anyone could make me a better person, you could.'

this is a translation...

<<You’re really a bad boy, only having curiosity instead of love.
Because of you, I’ve been fooled the entire time.
You’re no fun, you have no manners. You’re a devil, devil you are
You're caught red handed, you've provoked me. Run devil devil run run.
..
No matter how much you run, you're still in the palm of my hand
There is no one like me. I’m disappointed that you tried to trick me.
I’m much better than all of them. What are you going to be if you keep acting like that?
(I told you not to fool around) I told you to do well while I loved you.

You better run run run run run
I'll get my payback the day I become a great person, don't you forget
You better run run run run run

This entire world is half men. It doesn't matter if you're gone.>>

: Run Devil Run

edit: LOL *apparently* there is an english version by K$sha.... the lyrics are lamer but this amused me

<<Now that you're living with the vampires
You better get yourself a gun
I'll make ya sing just like a boy's choir
I'll string you up to have some fun>>

'And I still hear my friend say: "You know, you wouldn't believe the things I saw when I was stationed overseas"
But he somehow keeps smiling in spite all of that, while I keep finding ways to push the good out for the bad
Oh, how selfish of myself to always say that it was more than I could take, like it was pain I could not shake,
like it could break me with its fingers, throw my body in the lake, and I would slowly sink away
But the truth is it was sorrow that I made and would not face
See, I keep falling for the future after tripping on the past, and I am always tearing sutures out to make the anguish last'

'To be nameless and faceless,
oh what a weightless blessing to receive!'

'We live amidst a violent storm; leaves us unsatisfied at best,
So fill your heart with what's important, and be done with all the rest.'

'Feel with all your senses, make sure to let down your defenses,
there's just one way to make you see, love is all, love is all you need'

hey, how come turning words into actions is always so hard?

oh, and also: 'Bitch, real G's move in silence like lasagna'

by the way, i need to head over to the "what are you listening to" thingy, see you there

very interesting

"the strands in your eyes, that color them wonderful; stop me and steal my breath, ,
emeralds from mountatins thrust towards the sky , never revealing their depth. . .
so tell me we belong together. . .
dress it up with up with the trappng of love. . ."

To the centre of the city where all roads meet, waiting for you
To the depths of the ocean where all hopes sank, searching for you
I was moving through the silence without motion, waiting for you
In a room without a window in the corner I found truth

In the shadowplay acting out your own death, knowing no more
As the assassins all grouped in four lines, dancing on the floor
And with cold steel, odour on their bodies made a move to connect
I could only stare in disbelief as the crowds all left

I did everything, everything I wanted to
I let them use you for their own ends
To the centre of the city in the night, waiting for you
To the centre of the city in the night, waiting for you

liang yi zhen: Say you love me/ shuo ai wo

<<Say you love me, say it to my ear
It’s really been so long that I’ve forgotten this type of palpitating
Love is too hard to understand, we still don’t understand
These heart-souring delights, how many of them are real?
Say you love me, use your hands to give me warmth
Even if you’re unable to prove how long you can love me
I know you want to hide, I’m not asking for much
Can we look at the sky together, for this very last minute?>>

Painted as monsters,
borracho, cansado.
Do you know what the people say?
Plucked from the garden
of wicked beliefs,
I offer a rose
& smile with harmless teeth.

Then slick back my hair,
You know the devil's in there?
Alone in the garden.
Like lumbering giants
in a shameful parade,
we came to ruin all &
make a rotten trade.

So roll over...

Scattered on the shore,
surely washed away.
Feeling somewhat deserving
of what will be someday.
No I can never stay melancholy,
I've the memory of your face.
No I can never stay melancholy for long...

until I move on.

We're unwanted strangers,
exploited & dangerous,
unable to hide or even dream of it.
Como est

Neat thread. :)

For The Fallen Dreams - Deep down inside (Metalcore)

Deep down inside, reach down and find what you're looking for.
Keep this in mind...
Don't drag your heel and feel down while you look for more.
Every now and then you will feel the weight of the world on your shoulders.
Turn it around. Stand up off the ground.
Stand up off the ground. The more you want it, the more you'll have it.
What have you found Reach down inside. Reach down inside.
Reach down inside. I hope you find what you're looking for.
Deep down inside, I want this for you... Depends if you want it more.
Deep down inside, how bad do you want this

I listened to this song with a careful ear today and damn near wanted to cry.... hits too close to home, especially the bolded part.

It went right by me --
At the time it went over my head
I was looking out the window
I should have looked
At your face instead

It went right by me --
Just another wall
There should have been a moment
When we let our barriers fall
I never meant
What you're thinking --
That is not what I meant at all...

Well I guess we all
Have these feelings
We can't leave unreconciled
Some of them burned on our ceilings
Some of them learned as a child

The things that we're concealing
Will never let us grow
Time will do its healing
You've got to let it go

Closed for my protection --
Open to your scorn
Between these two directions
My heart is sometimes torn

I lie awake with my secrets
Spinning around my head
Something that somehow
Escaped me --
Something you shouldn't have said
I was looking out the window
I should have looked
At your face instead...

I find no absolution
In my rational point of view
Maybe some things are instinctive
But there's one thing you could do
You could try to understand me --
I could try to understand you...

It’s 3 AM, it’s cold outside, you can’t sleep.
Is it from your conscience talking to the skeletons you keep?
Every time you try to speak, only craziness comes out.
But she can’t turn the other cheek.
And you can’t hide how it comes out.
So when did you decide to embrace what you hate to survive?

'Cause that’s not what got us here.

It’s 8 AM and still no sleep.
But you don’t care.

I don’t know why I keep on calling.
Does it get us anywhere?
'Cause every time I try to speak.
You never let my words come out.
I can’t turn the other cheek.
And I can’t help how this comes out.

So when did you decide to embrace what you hate to survive?
'Cause that’s not what got us here

Honestly, I don’t know how you could see.
Something you once saw in me.

Just another volunteer.
Wonder if you ever lie awake in bed and think about the things you said.
Your dedication shows that you can’t see your eyes are closed.
And all the promises you made to me, they seem to fade and leave me with this disappointment.
That these words can never show.

When your ride is over and you’re hanging by a thread.
As your house of cards is falling, just remember what I said.

So when do you decide to embrace you hate to survive?
'Cause that’s not what got us here.

And honestly, I don’t know how you could see.
Something you once saw in me.
Just another volunteer, for you to bleed.

~Staind, "The Truth"

<<Got balls of steel, got an automobile, for a minimum wage
Got real estate, I’m buying it all up in outer space
Now that the truth is just a rule that you can bend
You crack the whip, shape shift and trick the past again

"And true love lives,
in lollipops and crisps
I'm not living
I'm just killing time"

<<I waited my whole life to be the man of the hour
I really can't lie, I was the man when I started
I'll be the man when I die

...

The most zaniest, insaniant
Pulling up in Merced-iance
Rolling up like I'm Damian
I love girls that's Arabian, Albanian, caucasian
I ride around gettin cranium cause my dick is hard as titanium
Oh boy you had your chance, and blew it (you blew it)
Stand aside and watch a real nigga do it

...

I feel like, the world mine
Just bow down, the world mine
Imma let you live, the world mine
The world mine

The one and only in this muthafucker
Niggas staring like we the only ones in this muthafucker
How could you not know we in this muthafucker
I got my haters looking lonely in this muthafucker>>

System of a Down - Prison Song

Ellipses denote skipping bits and pieces. Italicized font denotes parts of the song that are spoken.

"They're trying to build a prison,
They're trying to build a prison,

Following the rights movements
You clamped down with your iron fists,
Drugs became conveniently
Available for all the kids,
Following the rights movements
You clamped down with your iron fists,
Drugs became conveniently
Available for all the kids,

I buy my crack, my smack, my bitch,
Right here in Hollywood,

Nearly 2 million Americans are incarcerated
In the prison system, prison system
Prison system of the U.S.

They're trying to build a prison
...
Minor drug offenders fill your prisons
You don't even flinch
All our taxes paying for your wars
Against the new non-rich,
Minor drug offenders fill your prisons
You don't even flinch
All our taxes paying for your wars
Against the new non-rich,

I buy my crack, my smack, my bitch,
Right here in Hollywood,

The percentage of Americans in the prison system, has doubled since 1985
...
All research and successful drug policy shows
That treatment should be increased,
And law enforcement decreased,
While abolishing mandatory minimum sentences,
All research and successful drug policy shows
That treatment should be increased,
And law enforcement decreased,
While abolishing mandatory minimum sentences.

Utilizing drugs to pay for secret wars around the world,
Drugs are now your global policy,
Now you police the globe,
...
Drug money is used to rig elections,
And train brutal corporate sponsored
Dictators around the world.

They're trying to build a prison

They're trying to build a prison,
They're trying to build a prison,
They're trying to build a prison, (for you and me to live in)"

You cant touch this. Oooh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

I'd like to know why these lyrics resonate with the posters who are referencing them.

Also, this doesn't really apply to me at the moment (or anymore at all, really) but I remember a few years ago hearing "Non-Entity" by Nine Inch Nails and strongly resonating with these lines:

The sky is not the same shade of blue
Every single thing
I believe isn't true
Missing in a maze of monochrome
How did I get here
How can I go home?
