Does anyone else have this problem with certain artists. For me the ones that really get to me are Neil Young's whiney voice and Bob Dylan's Singing. I really love the music they have made but their voices tend to spoil it a little for me and I almost can't help but think they would be much better if someone else sung them. A couple others I can think of like this are Thom Yorke and I know a lot of people don't like Billy Corgan's voice (although I personally like the fit.) Can anyone else relate to this?

Don't know about hating the singing but there are bands that are considered "great" which I absolutely hate: The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, and Rush specifically.

I don't stand the growling and whiny "I sound like a prepubescent girl" a la Britney Spears female voices.

Yea, in fact the lousy singing is usually my #1 reason for disliking a song if I do.

I hate Frankie Valli's voice.
He sounds like what I'd imagine a molester singing..sounds like.

There was a backlash against trained musicians when modern "classical" music started going off the deep end and no one could relate to it. One of the sad aspects of this movement is that contemporary music larely gets dominated by poor singers. This is by no means universal -- we do have our Mariah Careys. But in general, teh average Joe wants to hear someone with a mediocre voice, even as he says to his friends, "Please, DON'T sing."

One of the reasons I listen to Latin music is they have these awesome male vocalists. I die for Alejandro Fernandez, Luis Miguel, et al... Hearing these men sing is better than sex. Listen to m, fall in love again, and die of pleasure:

This might be because I listen to a lot of metal but I think I’m immune to all shapes and forms of terrible singing, the angrier, the better. What I look for in a song is quality lyrics combined with good sound. I’m not too fancy about the voice.

I think they are overrated and their music is boring to me--same for all three. Just personal taste.

There's sure to be a dozen 'covers' by numerous other artists - and even instrumental covers for most oldies.

There are songs that I love up to the point the singing begins. Often have wished I could get the music without the singing. I suppose karaoke tracks.
I can't think of any specific songs at the moment. Doesn't have to be one artist and all thier music. Some I may love their singing on one song, and another not so much.
I don't mind Dylan and Neil Young. Neil is one of my long time favorites. I certainly understand though why many don't care for them.
The one artist who's singing I can not stand is Bruce Springsteen! Love the E Street band's sound, but then Bruce has to start in.

I will never understand why so many artists today accept their voice being auto tuned. They sound like braying sheep. Baa, meh.

Jimi Hendrix... the reason why Stevie Ray Vaughan's "Little Wing" in the far superior of the two versions IMO!

Well, I was going to say Bob Dylan. I haven't heard too many of his songs where I actually enjoyed his singing. He usually sounds like he was thinking "maybe I'll record this song........or maybe I'll go eat a sandwich.....................okay I'll record this song". Not to mention that his voice is spectacularly unspectacular. An exception would be "Lay Lady Lay"--he actually put some effort in there to stylize his singing. Even he admitted that Jimi Hendrix came to own "All Along the Watchtower". And Jose Feliciano's version of "Don't think twice, it's Alright" is a thousand times more evocative and lovely than Dylan's version of his own song. So I do like his music, but his singing leaves much to be desired.
