Sounds like they were quite misled. Wonderful oversight by the state department. The complaint wasn't investigated and the complainee was threatened with being sent home...

Ugh ... bad situation for those students!!! Were they exploited? Absolutely!! I read the program increased from 30k students in 2007 to 150k students in 2008????? O.O
The U.S. should abolish the program entirely. As much as I have sympathy for people who come from impoverished countries ... there is an ever increasing poverty level problem in the U.S. that needs to be addressed (and sadly, the protest leader of that article agreed.)

the whole system of 'risk everything so you can be foreclosed, exploited, plunged into debt' has caught up to us and then failed... and there are those that are calling the ones in power out..

i read this article when it first came out and i am glad for it, since it paints a black eye on Hershey's

i rly liked their chocolate, but exploiting college students do not sit well with me
