Emergency Response Aid

Purpose:
To be an official association supporting Emergency Services in a reserve capacity.

Reason:
Reservists are spread throughout society in their ordinary roles and are therefore perfectly positioned to aid emergency services in an on the spot capacity. It is also always beneficial to have a well trained civilian society to ensure Dangerous Situations or Natural Disasters are minimised as quickly as possible with regards to human life.

Membership:
People may join as trainee members and attend meetings and training as they desire, but would only become E.R.A. Staff upon completing all three training programs. This would be to ensure that all members can carry out the expectations the community we serve have of us.

E.R.A. Commitments
Being an ERA member means a commitment to the community and to S.E.S. activities should ERA be invited to give aid in the event of an emergency. Also to give aid whereever required.

Joining E.R.A.
Joining ERA would be a simple matter of having a motorbike or be working towards getting one, and attending meetings. After having made the decision to join and having paid dues, the trainee member may then join in on the training courses to further themselves. ERA would recognise prior learning through accredited course trainers with regards to the programs.

Why Motorbikes?
Motorbikes are far more cost efficient with regards to petrol, and are therefore better for the environment. They also have the major advantage of being able to go places that cars cannot. Therefore in the event of a cyclone having distributing debris everywhere, the mobility of members to aid emergency services would not be compromised.

Training:
Community raised funds, government training grants and monies from members go towards the training of E.R.A. Members. Instruction would be at the center, or onsite as required.

Training Programs:

HUB
Occupational First Aid/Paramedic Training (St Johns Ambulance)
Radio

They also need ICS (Incident Command System) training. Basic courses only.
