I found it amusing. They want to maintain a sense of innocence in high school at prom, which is not almost a synonym for the loss of virginity (at least in popular culture)?

Well, maybe they students need a few more months of 'innocence' before they get to college and grind like crazy. I can see the value of maintaining innocence, but as a society, we've basically failed at this endeavor. Just watch movies depicting teenagers partying. So I guess I would support it as an ideal, but that would require much more than banning this at proms.

What do you think?

Innocence is essentially lost once you turn on Mtv or open a web page. Get over it parents and prude-adults, you can no longer prolong the inevitable.

Depends on what music is being played imo. Who the hell would want to slow dance to anything that would likely be played at a modern prom? Let the kids dance.

Actually, it would be hilarious to see people grinding to slow-dance music.

wth? They think slow dancing face to face is INNOCENT?

The article mentioned the kids have grown up with grinding as part of their way of dancing. They're used to seeing it. I'm betting it's the chaperones who don't want to see it. That's why they came up with this rule. That way they can tap a couple on the shoulder who is making the chaperone feel uncomfortable. Bah... Proms are for the high school kids - not the adults.

For some reason this made me think of this video that came out a few years ago. I know it's not exactly "dirty" grinding - but they sure have fun with the concept.

They should protest by sticking $billz in each others' clothes while slow dancing.

I couldn't care less really, but the school wants to prohibit it. Too bad, so sad. They don't have to go if they feel that strongly over it.
Oh the injustice!
