I see intolerance as active resistance. Indifference is the absence of investment in a particular thing.

really? i see intolerance as passive resistance. tolerance on the other hand would be closer to active acceptance
intolerance to me means letting your unchallenged prejudices take the reigns and dictate how you interact with others, whereas tolerance requires more thought. i do think anyone and everyone has it in them to be both, at different times. indifference i see as simply not being affected either way about something (or someone). imagine a buoy in the ocean, swaying every which way depending on the tide, vs. an anchor, that's the difference between indifference and caring.
