I grew up watching his shows. They were probably one of the reasons I love classic television.

With the Andy Griffith show and reruns of Matlock, he was a staple on tv for a long time.

RIP Andy Griffith, sheriff of Mayberry.

He was a class act for sure, and will be missed.

I want to add that if you want to see him play a character that is the complete opposite of the type he was widely known for, check out A Face in the Crowd from 1957.
When I first saw it, I had a hard time getting my head around him playing such a character!

He always seemed like a stand up kinda guy, at face value, to me. RIP

Oh my, I grew up watching his show. I can hear the whistling entry tune. I remember most of the characters; Barney, Opey, Aunt Bee, Goober, Otis. I could just cry over his passing. What a great example he set for American goodness.

:(

i always saw him as a ronald reagan doppleganger

celebrity or not though, a human has died and I pray he had his metaphysical affairs in order
