So I know we have a few others besides myself here who are furry. And I found a great documentary / inside look at the fandom. And its probably the best one I've seen. This is to me a very fair and balanced approach. So please feel free to comment.

I know there's an Ask a Furry interview thread around here somewhere, but I'm holiday lazy.

I've always been curious, BB. What got you started in the fandom? What is the appeal?

Just posting so I can keep an eye on the topic and post some thoughts on a later date. I have many many friends who are furries, otherkin, and many other types. They are such interesting people to talk to. That's all I will say for now.

I like gay furry comics. They tend to be more feeling oriented and...strangely enough...more sophisticated as compared to other forms of gay art.

Wow, this is the last place I'd expect a thread like this here :p

Though to be fair I can say I'm furry enough to know that Blind Bandit's signature artwork is from the (fantastic) novawuff:

Stuff like the above is what got me interested. I think you at least have to have a background of always being fascinated and appreciative towards anything involving animals (especially animal characters) growing up to really get interested in the fandom.

Oh, and also fun fact: the majority of furries are gay for whatever reason ;)

EDIT: I guess I should mention I don't own a fursuit or anything and never been to a convention.

Gods, being a furry...Huh, that's actually not a wildly inaccurate video. There's a big and pretty wide underbelly to the group which is, how shall we say, not represented but it's a fact that most of the fur fandom doesn't participate in the more freaky side of things.

Granted, if you go to the room parties at any super big furry convention they ARE broken down by fetish. That's just a fact about furs though. I'd have to say the core of being a furry is probably the art and the escape from a human mode which few of us find suitable.
