Every now and then my bluetooth mouse and computer seem to go through a break-up/separation, accompanied by many little beeps, bells, and miniature icons popping up.

Is this common, or is it just a shitty microsoft mouse?... or worse, is it Windows that's the problem?

(I will not be getting an Apple product).

It is someone hacking your computer

The only way to stop them is to post a pic of yourself on members photos so we can finally see what you look like

Seriously though. Electronics which beep when they stop working are usually trying to tell you what is wrong with them. The number of beeps probably represent various faults. Do you still have the manual?

There was a manual? I just ripped it out of the pack and shoved batteries in it.

I've turned the mouse over on its back, blew a little on the infrared eye, and tapped it a little. The batteries tested as fine, so it's not malnourishment. Meanwhile, windows keeps stuffing around trying to install new hardware, and I'm left pawing at the screen.

Does this happen when you haven't touched the mouse for a while or can it happen mid use?

Try going into device manager, bluetooth, find your mouse, look for power save options and stop it turning your mouse off to save power.

If that doesn't help I don't know. You could try this:

And hope he's feeling magnanimous

You need to ensure you have the drivers for this mouse installed.

He must have if it works for a while.

It sounds broken. Can you borrow someone else's to see if it does the same thing?

Drivers get updated by manufacturers.

Its worth a try. Uninstall, reinstall

Maybe your receiver got broken or you have something else with BT on that is interrupting signal. Maybe your mouse is sensitive to half empty batteries.
How do you charge it? Try to put in new rechargeable batteries with at least 1900mAh

Did this ever get resolved?
