Dr. Lissa Rankin: "Mind Over Medicine: Scientific Proof You Can Heal Yourself" | Talks at Google

While some mind-body medicine pioneers and New Age teachers talk about how we can heal ourselves, Dr. Lissa Rankin was a skeptical physician, trained in evidence-based academic medicine and raised by a closed-minded physician father.

But after witnessing patients who declined conventional medical treatment, only to experience spontaneous remissions from seemingly ""incurable"" illnesses, she couldn't deny the possibility that patients might hold within them the power to heal themselves. Her curiosity led her to dig deep into the medical literature to scientifically prove that the mind can heal the body.

Her search uncovered not only proof that you can heal yourself, but also the shocking physiological mechanisms of how emotions like fear, loneliness, pessimism, and depression can make the body sick, while love, intimate connection, optimism, and faith can cure you.

About Dr. Rankin
Lissa Rankin, M.D. is a physician whose research led her to discover that our bodies have natural self-repair mechanisms that can be activated or disabled based on thoughts, beliefs, and feelings that originate in the mind. She is on a mission to heal our broken health care system, help patients play a more active role in healing themselves, heal, train and certify physicians in a more enlightened way of practicing medicine, and encourage the health care industry to embrace and facilitate, rather than resist, the body's self-healing capacities. Lissa has written 3 books, including her newest book Mind Over Medicine: Scientific Proof That You Can Heal Yourself. She speaks around the world, blogs at LissaRankin.com, paints professionally, and founded the Whole Health Medicine Institute, a training program for health care providers. She leads a mentoring program for visionaries, founded the wellness communities HealHealthCareNow.com and OwningPink.com, and teaches online programs, such as ""Find Your Calling"" with Dr. Martha Beck and Amy Ahlers, and ""Visionary Ignition Switch,"" an online business school for visionaries co-created with Amy Ahlers.

Angelic Guides, Time is Malleable, How to Create More Time

[...]

Many of you have experienced the quickening of time. It appears that “time” in a sense is speeding up, or rather the illusion of it is disintegrating. The effect that this will have on many of you as you continue to vibrate higher is more freedom to manipulate time. Time, just like anything else in your reality is malleable. It is your creation and therefore you are free to direct it any way you choose. Time is indeed very flexible. Proof of “time’s” flexibility can be seen when you are doing something that you absolutely love, time seems to fly by; while other times when you are involved in an activity that you dislike you feel time drag by. This is directly related to how fast, or how slow you are choosing to vibrate. The faster that you vibrate, the less “time” is felt.

You can begin to practice your ability to manipulate time in your everyday life. You may be running late for a meeting and if you are playing by the “rules” of the 3rd dimension it would be quite impossible to get to your meeting on time, so why not adjust time to your needs by seeing yourself arrive exactly on time? You will be amazed at just how well this works. Your whole reality will shift in order to get you to your destination “on time”. Traffic lights may all be green, no one else is on the road, traffic suddenly clears up; all of this is possible. In fact many of you already use your ability to manipulate time, however oftentimes you create “not enough time” and you find yourselves simply never having enough time to “do” all of the tasks you must get done. Manipulating time for your benefit will take some practice but it most certainly is achievable and will become a regular tool that you can rely on in your everyday lives. By believing and truly knowing that time is an illusion and it simply is yet another one of your many creations in your perceived reality; you will be able to bend time so that it will work for you and not against you.

We often hear so many say that there is “not enough time in a day”; to this we smile because there is always an abundance of everything that you will ever need. You live in an infinitely abundant Universe. The lack of anything is an illision. The compression of time that you are feeling is allowing you to remove yourself from the limitation of time. Haven’t you noticed that with each passing year, it seems to go by faster and faster? Many say that time goes by much faster as you get older. This in one sense is true, but not because you are older; but because as “time is passing” it is speeding up. As all of you are continuing to increase your vibrations more deliberately through your focus upon things that please you, things that bring you peace of mind, you are watching in amazement just how fast time is flying by. Time, just like everything else in your reality is molded by you; the only difference now is that you are aware of your ability to shift time to serve your needs, not the other way around.

This channeling nicely describes the subjective properties of time and how you can use it to your own advantage in your everyday life.

How about manifesting hitting a fly. It experiences time slowly thanks to experiencing more pictures per second. The slower time perception of flies makes it possible for them to escape you attempt to smash with a flyswatter. What if you can reduce that advantage to zero by using manifestation via the Law of Attraction. Or if you are friendly to animals, you can instead let it out by opening a window.

I will manifest more time for myself. After that, I will manifest my very own multigalactic empire. :)

Here is the Iron Sky 2 trailer. It is interesting to see an underground base in Antarctica. Then there is the dinosaur and the building that has an energy beam directed to it. Both of these are known from ancient knowledge of Agartha: dinosaurs and a sun in the center of the Earth.

This trailer was published on Nov. 7 2014. Correlating the Nazis to Corey Goode, his first report was published on Dec. 14 2014 (http://spherebeingalliance.com/blog...lied-nonhuman-views-of-the-et-artificial.html). Hitler is presumably dead. Or maybe that this 137 year-old is being kept alive by advanced 4D technology. 138 candles to blow out on the next birthday cake.

Glad someone knows what I'm doing.

The quote from 'Fringe Knowledge for Beginners' says;
"Higher knowledge is therefore fringe knowledge because those who pursue it have been alienated to the fringes of society. These fringe truth seekers open their hearts and open their minds, having placed more importance on the liberation of their souls than the conventions of society.

It strikes me that 'living on the fringes on society', is also an unconscious, automatic reaction which is as much about what your opting out of as much as it is about where your heart is taking you (e.g. away from the main stream view of things).

The article above 'Manifesto for a Post-Materialist Science' looks pretty amazing. Great in depth point there. I can't wait until the person is viewed holistically in medicine and in society. So much will change with different way of viewing the world that that will bring.
I think we will also look back at this time and how we have separated all kinds of knowledge, and academia,- each subject area off from each - as being really backwards. I hope that gene technology and the development of artificial intelligence does not advance too fast, before science can get it's head around this 'right' awareness.

Thanks for sharing your perspective. I love it when somebody like Donald or Bush Jr., the type of guys that John Fogerty wrote the CCR song Fortunate Son about, complain about people feeling they are entitled to things like affordable health care, social security, disability, and unemployment benefits during a recession. Many of the Boomers who have had power in recent years have simultaneously been very fortunate, had a strong sense of entitlement, and have totally compromised their principles in favor of doing what was in the best interest of themselves and their cronies. Many people who are sheltered from life's harsh realities never develop compassion for those who are less fortunate, and even those who do often sell their souls when the opportunity arises. The so-called Woodstock generation has become so hypocritical in so many ways. My uncle, who had a major stroke, saw the Grateful Dead a bunch of times when he was younger, but then became a neoconservative who loved Bush Jr. and the invasion of Iraq. It is pretty mind boggling. In many ways the Boomers have passed the buck. They will be gone when we and future generations have to deal with crises like environmental pollution. And now we have a president elect who shits in a golden toilet. Lovely.

I love it.
They had practically free college for all...healthcare was at manageable costs...people could find full time jobs that were not just jobs, but careers...people had pensions, retirements, vacations.
They had a LIVING wage and they had it in a single income family.
They fucked around after HS and did all the drugs that they then later made illegal for future generations - then were still able to find a job and buy a car, a house, etc.
They burned it to the ground...they have gouged the generations that came after them to support their entitlements.
We all have a stake in what is taking place right now though...it isn’t just the BBs.
Remember that thread I started called “Can we please talk about racism?”?
Pretty much people seemed to think that by talking about it and discussing it that it was somehow perpetuating it as well.
Well - that’s a bunch of horseshit.
Anyhow...you know I can go on and on about this so I will stop here lol.
We have some tough fights ahead of us I feel.

I would only say it is “fringe” because most of the related type phenomena are not popularly accepted due to lack of physical evidence and the taboo that has been perpetuated that there is no soul or spirit...just a brain...a meat computer giving us the illusion of choice when we actually have none.

This is why I never bought into that theory....what would be the reason for the brain tricking itself into thinking it has “free will” if every choice we make is actually predetermined by the programing and algorithms in the powerful meat-computer of a brain?
Why bother with the illusion at all?
What would nature gain from such a line of thinking when quite often it is the cause of much cognitive dissonance and conflicts?

Consciousness Is Everywhere
~ Buddhists and Leading Neuroscientists Agree ~

by Arjun Walia

conscious_universe657_01_small.jpg

“Broadly speaking, although there are some differences, I think Buddhist philosophy and Quantum Mechanics can shake hands on their view of the world.

We can see in these great examples the fruits of human thinking.
Regardless of the admiration we feel for these great thinkers, we should not lose sight of the fact that they were human beings just as we are.”

~ The Dalai Lama

Scientists and Buddhists from all over the world are starting to see the similarities between their disciplines, and the research which is emerging as a result is truly exciting.

A classic example of a scientist diving into ancient wisdom is Nikola Tesla, whose work was heavily influenced by Vedic philosophy.

You can read more about that here.

Here is a great clip of world renowned quantum physicist Dr. John Hagelin at an event discussing transcendental meditation.

Findings within neuroscience, dealing with things like past lives and reincarnation, also correlate with Buddhist philosophy; perhaps this is why Carl Sagan said that reincarnation deserves serious study, and since his passing, it has received some.

In 2008 University of Virginia psychiatrist Jim Tucker, for example, published a review of cases suggestive of reincarnation in the journal Explore.

You can read that study and find out more about it here.

Without a doubt, various ancient Eastern traditions are closely tied with certain aspects of modern day science.

Though it may seem counterintuitive to some, it seems as though science is actually working to catch up to the teachings of ancient philosophy and mysticism rather than the other way around.

Leading Neuroscientists & Buddhists Agree: “Consciousness Is Everywhere”

“I regard consciousness as fundamental.
I regard matter as derivative from consciousness.
We cannot get behind consciousness.
Everything that we talk about, everything that we regard as existing, postulates consciousness.”

~ Max Planck

(Theoretical physicist who originated quantum theory, which won him the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1918.)

It's great to see that in today's day and age, multiple prominent scientists from all over the world have started to study non-physical phenomena and human consciousness.

Christof Koch, the Chief Scientific Officer at the Allen Institute for Brain Science and a leading American neuroscientist, has illustrated how new theories in neuroscience suggest that consciousness is present in all things.

A couple of years ago he took a trip to India to discuss the topic with a group of Buddhist monks and ended up debating with the Dalai Lama for an entire day.

During his conversation with the Dalai Lama, Koch was most struck by his ideas about ‘panpsychism': the belief that consciousness is everywhere, “and that we have to reduce the suffering of all conscious creatures.”

Sam Littlefair Wallace from Lion's Roar offers some insight into Koch's background and views:

Koch, who became interested in Buddhism in college, says that his personal worldview has come to overlap with the Buddhist teachings on non-self, impermanence, atheism, and panpsychism.

His interest in Buddhism, he says, represents a significant shift from his Roman Catholic upbringing.
When he started studying consciousness - working with Nobel Prize winner Francis Crick - Koch believed that the only explanation for experience would have to invoke God.

But, instead of affirming religion, Koch and Crick together established consciousness as a respected branch of neuroscience and invited Buddhist teachers into the discussion.

Below is the video of Koch at the event in India:

Integrated Information Theory (IIT)
IIT is a theoretical framework for understanding consciousness which was developed by Giulio Tononi, MD, PhD, from the Center for Sleep and Consciousness at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Koch collaborates with Tononi on a regular basis, and believes ITT to be the only truly promising fundamental theory of consciousness.

The theory states that physical systems all contain consciousness, and that this consciousness can be measured as a theoretical quantity, which they are calling 'phi'.

Tononi has developed a measuring system for phi in the human brain, where scientists send a magnetic pulse into a human brain and observe the pulse echo through the neurons.

The idea is that the longer and clearer the reverberation, the higher the tested subject's level of consciousness.

The test can be used to tell whether a patient is awake, asleep, or anesthetized.

What Tononi and his team are trying to do is measure consciousness.
The fact that it has yet to be measured explains why a large portion of mainstream academia rejects the notion of consciousness existing as a separate entity, outside of the brain.

Tononi and Koch recently published a paper in 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society B' (Consciousness - Here, There and Everywhere?), emphasizing that consciousness is a fundamental aspect of reality, like other aspects that we can see and perceive with our senses.

The theory states that any object with a 'phi' greater than zero possesses consciousness.

This would mean that even protons are conscious beings, which wouldn't be too far off considering that when you observe them at the quantum level, their behavior changes, almost as if they know they are being watched.

In the video, Koch describes how Buddhist teachings led him to study consciousness scientifically:

I was confronted with the Buddhist teaching that sentience is probably everywhere at varying levels, and that inspired me to take the consequences of this theory seriously...

When I see insects in my home, I don't kill them.

It's fantastic to see this merging of science and philosophy, even if determining the source of consciousness remains a task beyond our grasp.

Scientific theories like IIT help to further push the much-needed study of consciousness into mainstream academia.

At the end of the nineteenth century, physicists discovered empirical phenomena that could not be explained by classical physics.

This led to the development, during the 1920s and early 1930s, of a revolutionary new branch of physics called quantum mechanics (QM).

QM has questioned the material foundations of the world by showing that atoms and subatomic particles are not really solid objects - they do not exist with certainty at definite spatial locations and definite times.

Most importantly, QM explicitly introduced the mind into its basic conceptual structure since it was found that particles being observed and the observer - the physicist and the method used for observation - are linked.

These results suggest that the physical world is no longer the primary or sole component of reality, and that it cannot be fully understood without making reference to the mind.

Dr. Gary Schwartz
Professor of Psychology, Medicine, Neurology, Psychiatry and Surgery at the University of Arizona (source)

Below is a great video from Dr. Gary Schwartz (quoted above) in which he discusses whether consciousness is the product of the brain or a receiver of it.

It's a fantastic and short overview of an immense amount of research.

This subject has tons of peer-reviewed scientific research behind it which not many people have the time to go through themselves, and he has thoughtfully condensed that research to allow more people access to it.

So much good material to go through!

Thanks!!!
Please if you find any good articles or have some sage advice from a meditation session post it up!
It’s nice to see you back around here again.
Is everything generally okay?
Things here are strange as of lately...I have to say though, my morning meditation routine I have been doing has been very helpful.
Still...everything has a different feeling to it...it just changed recently, I don’t know if you felt anything either?
Much love!

Spirit wanted me to do a Four-Directions Reading for everyone in response to this, so here it goes:

From the Warm Hearth of the East, we are reminded that in an age where we have a hard time trusting people to remember how easy and freely trust, not just others, but themselves. Trust yourself, trust your intuition, but trust that there will always be help there for you in some way, shape or form when you ask, and don't be afraid to ask for it when you need it. More play is needed, and rest from work. Keep optimistic and do the things that you enjoy. Keep smiling and showing kindness, even on your crabbiest days.

From the Waters of the South, we're told that it's an ideal time for long-term planning, especially in matters involving money. make sure you have multiple forms of it set aside in your planning process. It's also a reminder that the less you[ focus your thoughts on]worry about money, the "more" you will have available. Abundance is always available. You are constantly creating and refining your future. You must keep moving forward with grace no matter what..

From the echoing stones and minerals of the West, We are encouraged to keep informed and to keep learning. Knowledge is very powerful at this time and helps keep the mind grounded, yet expansive And that despite the way things may seem in the world, we are actually still on the right path in the Grand Scheme of things.

The the Cool Winds of the North advise us to slow down and take time for our families, for healthy family ties create healthy communities, which create healthy counties and cities and so-on. We must acknowledge our pain in order to heal from it, and at this time, we are all in great need of taking time to allow ourselves to heal, especially at the Heart-level

I feel separate from the energetic chaos at the moment, I feel like we are in the eye of a storm, and it's quite unsettling. I've also been getting these insanely crazy downloads over the fast few weeks in particular, which have left me feeling "invisible" if that makes sense. Grounding is getting increasingly difficult for me, especially when I bathe. I phase out very readily when I am in water.

Hmmm.
As for downloads...it’s now a daily occurrence for me to have a sense of Deja Vu several times throughout the day followed by me remembering bits and pieces of long lost obscure dreams that fade in and out...sometimes, like I’ve said before...I seem to forget the images and dreams/thoughts as I am simultaneously remembering them...which is an odd feeling that is hard to describe.
Sometimes when I bathe I will put the big chunk of black tourmaline I have in the water with me...that might help with your grounding in water.
It’s makes for a nice bath anyhow.

I think you hit the nail on the head with the “eye of the storm”.

Thank you for such a cool and awesome reading!!!

Re Post Materialist Science- and the view of the brain as the 'receiver' of consciousness, rather than generator. The brain as 'receiver' makes so much more sense.
Surely 'meaning' per se, is not contingent on a 'material' 'thinker.
It has always struck me as arrogant and miss-guided, the perception that other sentient beings lack 'consciousness' (in the same way that we do)...surely everything has consciousness, it's just not been described or quantified.
So then we need to ask what is the nature of phenomenon, what is consciousness, what is in fact life?
Buddhism explains life in terms of the 'mystic law of life' which encompasses and explains all reality. There is an interesting concept in Buddhism which explains phenomenon. This concept is called 'Three thousand realms in a single moment of life' or Ichinen Sanzen.

The renowned sixth-century Buddhist scholar T’ien-t’ai (538–97) developed a meditative practice to enable people to perceive the boundless extent of their lives at each moment. He also developed a theoretical system to describe this reality. He called this “three thousand realms in a single moment of life” (Jpn. ichinen sanzen). Ichinen sanzen demonstrates that the entire phenomenal world exists in a single moment of life.

The number three thousand is arrived at through the following calculation: 10 worlds or potential conditions of life, which are each mutually inclusive (10 x 10) x 10 factors x 3 realms of existence.

three-thousand-realms-chart.jpg

Ten Worlds
The Ten Worlds are, in ascending order of desirability: Hell, Hunger, Animality, Anger, Humanity, Heaven (or Rapture), Learning, Realization, Bodhisattva and Buddhahood. These are distinct but fluid life states that every person experiences. They describe all the possible conditions of life, and at any moment we are in one or other of these “worlds.” Hell is the world of self-absorbed misery; Hunger is a condition of craving; in the world of Animality one either fawns on others or seeks to dominate them depending on whether one perceives them as more or less powerful than oneself; Anger is the world of competitiveness and jealousy masked by the pretence of virtuousness; Humanity is a state of rational calm; Heaven is the world of desires fulfilled; Learning is the joy of expanding one’s knowledge; Realization includes the absorbed world of creative pursuit; Bodhisattva is the devoted spirit of service to others; and Buddhahood is the most creative and wholly positive potentiality. Each of these worlds contains the potential for the other nine, meaning that you can bring out your Buddhahood while also living your life as an ordinary human being.

While the Ten Worlds describe differences among people and phenomena, the Ten Factors describe elements common to all things. The first three are (1) appearance (what can be seen), (2) nature (inherent disposition, which cannot be seen) and (3) entity (the essence of life that permeates and integrates appearance and nature). The next six factors explain how our lives interact with others and with the environment surrounding us. (4) Power is potential energy and (5) influence is when that inherent energy is activated. (6) Internal cause, (7) relation, (8) latent effect and (9) manifest effect describe the mechanisms of cause and effect—the law of causality to which all things are subject: internal causes latent within one’s life (positive, negative or neutral), through relation with various conditions, produce manifest effects as well as latent effects which become manifest within time.

The 10th factor, consistency from beginning to end, means that the Ten Factors are consistent for each of the Ten Worlds. That is, the world of Hell has the appearance, nature, essence, manifest effect, etc., of Hell, all of which are different for the other worlds.

The Three Realms are (1) the realm of the five components, (2) the realm of living beings and (3) the realm of the environment. These could be thought of simply as, from the standpoint of a human being, the person, society and the environment.

Nichiren expresses the reality of ichinen sanzen in the following terms: “Life at each moment encompasses the body and mind and the self and environment of all sentient beings in the Ten Worlds as well as all insentient beings in the three thousand realms, including plants, sky, earth, and even the minutest particles of dust. Life at each moment permeates the entire realm of phenomena and is revealed in all phenomena.”

Because of the deep interrelationship of our life and all phenomena at each moment, a change in our inner life exerts an influence on all things and brings about a change in our environment or circumstances, ultimately transforming the world itself. As SGI President Daisaku Ikeda writes, “The power of belief, the power of thought, will move reality in the direction of what we believe and conceive of it.” Our strong resolve or prayer permeates the entire phenomenal world, its influence manifesting more strongly as we take action..

A video to compliment the last.
This is a new one I haven’t seen...good stuff!

Entangling Conscious Agents, Donald Hoffman

Scientific investigations of consciousness that seek its biological basis typically assume that objects in
space-time—such as neurons—exist even if unperceived, and have causal powers.

I evaluate this assumption, using evolutionary games and genetic algorithms that study perceptual evolution, and find that it is almost surely false.
Our perceptions of space-time and objects are a species-specific adaptation, not an insight into objective reality.

In consequence, I propose a formal theory of consciousness—the theory of “conscious agents”—that takes consciousness to be fundamental, rather than derivative from objects in space-time.

I use the theory of conscious agents to solve the combination problem of consciousness, both for the combination of subjects and of experiences.
I show that entanglement follows as a consequence of the combination of conscious subjects.
I then discuss the relationship of these findings to the account of entanglement given by quantum-Bayesian interpretations of quantum theory.

Cosmic experiment is closing another Bell test loophole
Extra Dimensions:
A new experiment combines nanoscale measurements and interstellar distances to demonstrate quantum non locality.

pt.5.2032figure1-72.jpg

For decades, physicists have performed versions of John Stewart Bell’s famous test to confirm that quantum mechanics is indeed as strange as it appears to be.

None of those Bell tests have required telescopes staring into the heavens—until now.

By using light from stars in the galaxy to determine the measurements performed on pairs of entangled photons, researchers have demonstrated a violation of Bell’s inequality.

The results appear in a study that was posted 21 November on arXiv but that has not yet been accepted for publication.

The clever experiment builds on the already overwhelming evidence that quantum mechanics is not secretly rooted in the classical concept of local realism.

It also adds an important safeguard: Unlike previous experiments, the cosmic Bell test ensures that the choices of measurement settings are free of influence from causally connected events that occurred just before the test.

Last year, separate teams at the Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, NIST, and the University of Vienna performed loophole-free Bell tests, which eliminated what many physicists considered the two major limitations of prior experiments.

The researchers measured their entangled particles with detectors spaced far enough apart that a speed-of-light signal couldn’t inform one detector of the measurement performed by the other.

The scientists also used detectors that were efficient enough to ensure that the measured particle properties were representative of all the particles in the experiment, detected and undetected.

Yet as Jason Gallicchio, Andrew Friedman, and David Kaiser explained in a 2014 Physical Review Letters paper, even so-called loophole-free tests are not immune to the setting-independence, or free-will, loophole.

Even if the detectors can’t communicate with each other, the trio noted, hidden variables may influence the choice of detector settings.
Most Bell experimenters have used quantum random number generators to determine which measurement a detector makes on an entangled particle.

The shared history of those number generators, the detectors, or both could, at least in theory, bias a Bell test.

Ruling out that unlikely yet plausible prospect requires setting the detectors via causally disconnected sources, wrote Gallicchio, Friedman, and Kaiser. Their solution: Use the light from quasars located on opposite sides of the visible universe to determine the detector settings.

If such a cosmic test revealed a violation of Bell’s inequality, then the only way hidden variables could be involved is if they conspired to rig the detector settings billions of years ago—long before the formation of the planet on which the detectors reside.

The scientists haven’t yet used quasars in a Bell test, but they have used Milky Way stars. Working with Anton Zeilinger's quantum optics group at the University of Vienna, the team set up telescopes spaced about 1.5 km apart and pointed them at stars located on opposite sides of the sky.

Meanwhile, the researchers beamed entangled photons toward the two telescope stations.
The color of the stellar photon collected by each telescope (either red, with a wavelength greater than 700 nm, or blue) determined which setting the station’s detector would have when an entangled photon arrived.

Because, the authors argue, the wavelengths of stellar photons are determined at the time of emission and don’t change en route to Earth, those photons cannot conspire at the last moment to rig the measurements.

Like the results of every other published Bell test, the cosmic version revealed a violation of Bell’s inequality.
But this new finding demonstrates that if hidden variables intervened in the measurements, they did so at least 575 years ago because the closest star observed in the experiment is roughly 575 light-years away.

As the researchers write in the arXiv paper, their work “represents the first experiment to dramatically limit the space-time region in which hidden variables could be relevant.”

The researchers say that in addition to tracking quasars, future experimenters could rely on patches of the cosmic microwave background or primordial gravitational waves to set their detectors.

The farther those intrepid scientists push back, the more we can be confident that the universe follows the probabilistic set of rules that have left physicists scratching their heads since the development of quantum theory a century ago.

Quantum Physics & Free Will
Bell's Theorem, Determinism, Causality, Non-Locality, Realism

What does quantum physics have to do with free will? Is causality linear?
What is indeterminism?

What is Bell's Theorem and why is it so important when it comes to discussing determinism and free will?
What is non-locality?

What is realism?
Is Nature a super-deterministic conspiring machine?

Starting with a popular argument against free will, you will be introduced to a few of the implicit assumptions hidden in this argument.
From causal determinism and linear causality to realism and unique histories.

Getting familiar with these concepts will help you understand the importance of Bell's theorem, its assumptions and philosophical implications, which will be covered in detail in the second part of the video.

The freedom of choice assumption is in fact one of the pillars of quantum theory.
From the standard double-slit experiment to Bell's Theorem, and more recently the Conway-Kochen Free Will Theorem, the free choice of the experimenter is an axiom which is built into the foundations of quantum mechanics.

Since experimental tests show that Bell's inequalities are violated, the philosophical implications are that we need to let go of one or more of the assumptions in Bell's Theorem: locality, realism or freedom of choice.

Big Alcohol Watching Profits Plummet in States Where they Legally Compete with Cannabis
Justin Gardner December 8, 2016

Back in August, we learned through the Wikileaks email dump that an alcohol lobbying group was peddling propaganda to lawmakers in the attempt to stifle cannabis legalization. Claiming to be “neutral” on the subject, they did not hesitate to spout falsehoods and fear-mongering about the “dangers” of cannabis.

And then, as nine states were preparing to vote on legal cannabis in the November elections, alcohol lobbying groups were exposed as major funders of anti-pot efforts in various states, including Massachusetts and Arizona. The Intercept also noted beer and liquor companies predicted in SEC filings that legal cannabis would threaten their profits.

They were correct.
Brewbound, a craft beer interest group, first reported on an analysis by Cowen and Company finding that beer markets are shrinking in three states with legal cannabis – Colorado, Oregon, and Washington.

“[Vivien] Azer unpacked the latest Nielsen data in those three states — beer markets that have “collectively underperformed” in the last two years — and found that “the magnitude of the underperformance has increased notably,” with beer volumes falling more than two percent year-to-date and trailing the overall U.S. beer market.

“While (marijuana) retail sales opened up in these markets at different points of time, with all three of these states now having fully implemented a retail infrastructure, the underperformance of beer in these markets has worsened over the course of 2016,” Azer wrote.”

Interestingly, mainstream beer producers and so-called “premium domestic” beers such as Bud Light and Coors Light are showing the biggest drop – to the tune of 2.4 and 4.4 percent, respectively – while craft beer volumes are performing better. It seems cannabis users appreciate good taste.

Colorado is seeing a decline in craft beer volumes, but Oregon and Washington craft beers are still in a growth phase. Total beer volumes (mainstream and crafts) in Colorado have fallen 6.4 percent.

Although there is a general deceleration in craft beer volumes nationwide, the effect is more pronounced in the three legal cannabis states where data were analyzed. Imported beers appear to be immune, but even they are lagging behind the national growth trend in legal cannabis states.

While several craft brewing companies are actually welcoming pot legalization, mainstream corporations see it as a “big threat.” This explains their attempt to fund the continued prohibition of cannabis – using government to protect their profits.

Alcohol certainly enjoys a huge advantage, as this highly addictive and dangerous drug is not even classified under the Controlled Substance Act. Federal government leaves alcohol regulation to the states, which reap massive profits through extortion fees (licensing) and exorbitant “sin taxes.”

As more people turn from alcohol to cannabis, perhaps society as a whole will benefit, considering that a scientific study found alcohol fuels aggression while cannabis makes you peaceful.

Happy news that cannabis is crowding out alcohol.

It is important that though microbreweries continue to bloom because they provide local jobs, while mainstream breweries do not.

Nikola Tesla and numbers 3, 6 and 9: The secret key to free energy?
By Editor on December 9, 2016 0 Comments

If you only knew the magnificence of the 3, 6 and 9, then you would have a key to the universe. – Nikola Tesla
While many people draw a connection between Tesla and electricity, the truth is that Tesla’s inventions went far beyond it. In fact, he made groundbreaking discoveries such as wireless radio communications, turbine engines, helicopters (although it was Da Vinci who first had the idea), fluorescent and neon lights, torpedoes and the X-rayamong others. By the time of his death, Tesla held nearly 700 worldwide patents.

In addition to his countless inventions and futuristic designs, Nikola Tesla was also known for his eccentricities, such as using hotel rooms whose numbers were divisible by 3, cleaning plates with 18 napkins, or spinning 3 rounds around a block before entering a building, but no one knows for certain the hidden reason behind Nikola Tesla’s mysterious behaviors.

Interestingly, Tesla described on numerous occasions experiencing intense flashes of light, which were followed by moments of intense creativity and clarity.

Tesla was able to imagine and see an invention in his mind during this “moment of clarity” almost in holographic detail, Tesla claimed that he could even rotate these visions taking them apart piece by piece and he knew exactly how he was going to build these inventions based on his visionary experiences.

In addition to numerous other oddities, Nikola Tesla had calculated nodal points around the planet, and they were probably linked to the numbers three, six and nine and Tesla claimed that these numbers were extremely important.

Tesla was obsessed with numbers 3, 6 and 9. He understood a fundamental fact, unknown to many, which is the universal language of mathematics; A science discovered by man, not invented by him.

Tesla took into account the numerical patterns that occur in the universe, such as in star formation, the development of embryonic cells, and many others that some call “God’s Plan” or “the Blueprint of God.”

There is a fundamental system to which nature seems to respond: “The Powers of the Binary System,” where the pattern starts from one and continues to double numbers.

Thus cells and embryos are developed for example, following the following pattern: 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, etc.

Marko Rodin discovered that inside the so-called Vortex Math (the science of torus anatomy) is a repeating pattern: 1, 2, 4, 8, 7, 5, 1, 2, 4, 8, 7, 5, 1, 2, 4, and so on to infinity.

Here, numbers 3,6 and 9 do not exist and, according to Rodin, this is due to the fact that these numbers represent a vector from the third to the fourth dimension, which is called the “flow field.”

This field is a higher dimensional energy, which has an influence on the energy circuit of the other six numbers. Going even further, Randy Powell, a student of Marko Rodin, says that this is the secret key to free energy, which Tesla investigated until the last days of his life.

However, if we look even beyond Tesla, we will notice that no matter which culture we observe the number three has always been present, of extreme importance.

Study Finds Plants Are Capable Of Associative Learning, An Ability Thought Exclusive To Animals
sprout.jpg

A new study led by The University of Western Australia has demonstrated for the first time that plants can learn about their environment by making links between events, an ability thought to be exclusive to animals.
The international research team, led by Research Associate Professor Monica Gagliano from UWA’s Centre for Evolutionary Biology, in collaboration with researchers from the Universities of Oxford and Zurich, set out to prove plants were capable of associative learning.

The study, published in the online journal Scientific Reports, was inspired by Pavlov’s experiments with dogs, one of the most revealing studies in the history of behavioural research, which demonstrated that behaviour could be changed using conditioning.

Through a range of behavioural experiments, the team was able to provide convincing evidence that plants were capable of learning a particular association between the occurrence of one event and the anticipation of another.

Professor Gagliano experimented with pea seedlings, placing them in a Y-shaped maze to see how they responded after initially being exposed to light from a particular direction.

The results showed the seedlings were able to learn and choose the best growth direction for survival by correctly predicting the occurrence of light once it was removed.

Professor Gagliano said the ability of plants to employ a wide range of adaptations had made them a predominant form of life on Earth. Yet the possibility that plants were capable of forming associations between environmental cues to enhance their ability to ‘forage’ for light had never been explored.

“Because our findings are unexpected, we anticipate that this study will stir a lively and exciting debate on the origin and properties of memory, learning and ultimately intelligent behaviour in biological systems,” Professor Gagliano said.

“By challenging the way we currently view the agency of plants and their behaviours, which have enabled them to flourish, the research opens up new and bigger ecological questions of how modifications to our environment will shape future plant communities.

“Beyond plants, these findings compel us to review our thinking about the essential mechanisms underlying information processing throughout living systems.”
