The Terrifying Trump

Trump or Hillary America loses either way. The positive from Trump is a different business oriented perspective. Try as you like about all the bankruptcies hes part of, hes still pulled off making a ton of money. Read about the life of Hershey. Someone who failed over and over but never gave up and eventually found something that worked. Failure like this is a part of what makes America great. There are a lot of things to dislike about Trump but the alternative is Clinton. Someone who would sell her children and children's children to a slavery ring if she thought she could get away with it and there was a payoff for it. Shes proven national security means nothing to her and human lives mean nothing to her. I do not know how Trumps children were raised but they clearly love an respect him.

I don’t get this idea that people think Trump gives a F*** about the common man...his bankruptcies, not to mention Trump University, show he is a poor business man who has fleeced and shorted his workers and builders.
He hid behind bankruptcy laws that are written specifically to protect the rich, rules unavailable to the layman.
If this were truly a “capitalist” country he should be living in a cardboard box down by the river...but alas, we consistently bail out those that should be allowed to fail - and he has failed spectacularly several times...climbing back up to the top on the lost jobs of his former employees.
Slavery ring?
We are talking about the man who trades his wife in for a new model every decade.
Who criticizes our soldiers who have given their lives, while praising people like Putin and Mussolini.
All while he dodged the draft with “bone spurs” in which foot he cannot even remember, along with 4 education deferments.
Whatever...Hillary sucks too...I just don’t get why people think Trump is the champion of the common man.
He clearly doesn’t care about who he offends, which he does quite often...even many of his own party are saying they are going to vote for Hillary because Trump is so wacko.
Good luck.

I dont think Trump is a champion for anyone. Its just that Hillary has proven what her priorities are for the past 40 years. As for Trumps business practices and results... interesting opinion.

People seem to think that because Trump brags about his success, some of that will rub off on them were he to win. They don't realize that he would use us commoners to wipe his ass if he could. He doesn't care about working people. Now he is being sued by the USA Freedom Kids who performed this year at a rally for him, because he hasn't paid them. He won't, either. Talk about expecting free shit. He will not deliver on anything he promises. He is a "successful" business person because he has been taking advantage of others for decades.

And where are his actual policies and goals?
“Make America Great!” okay...some detail would be nice about how you’re going to do that Mr. Trump?
I would rather not have someone making it up as he/she went along.
No one really knows where he stands on almost everything.
Says stupid shit about Mexicans sending “their worst, rapists, murderers”, what purpose does making such a statement serve but to incite media attention and it’s blatantly false to boot.
Illegal immigrants commit crime at a much lower rate than native born citizens....google it.

I’m not enthused about Hillary, but at least she has some detailed plans and goals...like free college education - via the Bernie campaign, paid for by closing corporate tax loopholes.
Educating our nation is always a win-win.

If Trump U is his version of education (for which he is now being actively sued) our kids will grow up to be about as smart as a box of rocks.

I agree though I would add a few points.
We had checks and balances...Citizen’s United and the McCutcheon decision firmly destroyed what small bit of real democracy we had left.
The people didn’t vote on the candidates...there were people from both sides of the voter scale that were discounted at the polls in the primary to decide who the nominees are (i.e. anyone registered anything other than the party they are voting for - don’t count.)...we’ve had non-stop media interference with them practically naming who the nominees were and discounting everyone else...they are still doing it...the news, used to be a little more non-biased, they do not call out either candidate for the blatant lies that both of them have told...instead, they help spread the lies - both FOX and MSNBC.
The guy with the most money shouldn’t have a vote that counts any more than anyone else’s, but now we have gobs of money with people like the Koch Bros. donating -
The Washington Post, "Koch-backed network aims to spend nearly $1 billion in run-up to 2016," Jan. 26, 2015. Politico, "The Kochs put a price on 2016: $889 million," Jan. 26, 2015. USA Today, "Koch brothers set $889 million budget for 2016,"
Donald does not have the temperament, experience, or empathy to be President (his recent remarks about the Purple Heart, and the disgusting remarks about a honorable fallen soldier...kicking out a crying baby? Really? Moronic.), Hilary (gag) at least has been vetted and knows how the system works...though I doubt she's very empathetic either.
Yea! Two sociopaths!
I agree with you @Sandie33 she isn’t a saint...it’s now a vote for a giant douche or a shit sandwich...we always seem to end up having to pick the lesser of two evils...that’s not democracy...democracy doesn’t have delegates or super-delegates...they don’t have an army of lobbyists in Congress giving them campaign contributions, vacations, and promises of jobs in their firms upon leaving Congress.
We wouldn’t have a Congress that purposefully obstructs anything other than military and mining contracts (they certainly shouldn’t read “Green Eggs and Ham” and shut down part of the government costing us millions of wasted tax dollars) - excuse me, but could Congress at least side with the people they represent 50% of the time? Is that asking too much?
If we were truly the “land of the free”, we wouldn’t have more people in prison in the US than any other country in the world (let that sink in), more than China, more than Russia.
Most of those prisons are privately run as well - with lobbyists of their own pushing for more and more laws that can be broken and longer sentences for those convicted...in fact many of them have contracts with the states they are in that if they don’t have a census above a certain level the state still has to pay a fee for the empty beds - incentivizing them to imprison people.
We are practically back to being serfs.
We should let the people vote, and then count said votes...the one with the most wins.
That’s Democracy.

(the sandwich kinda has Trump hair ahahaha)
Thank you so very very much! I can't disagree with many of the points you have said here! You would have my unanimous vote...ever think of public office?
Please state all of your views loudly and proudly and repeatedly.
With more of same voice perhaps we can as We The People take this country of ours into the future with the same hopes many of our g-g-grandfathers foresaw for generations to follow.
Greed and the uninformed has much to do with our current State.
Thank you again for proclaiming your views...may I share it with others??

Yep...the shit sandwich has a lettuce wave hair...not sure Mrs Clinton has any of her own hair...lol

I think @Eventhorizon would assassinate me if I ever held public office hahahaha...jk.

People are uninformed...it seems so counterintuitive that deeply religious people are on the Trump bandwagon simply because he’s on the Republican ticket and they have drummed up hatred for Clinton.
But what you expect with propagandist movies like “13 Hours”?
Last I checked it was the Republicans that voted to NOT give the consulate the extra money and support they requested...how it got pinned on Hillary and not our National Security Advisor and the Prez is beyond me...let’s just blame her...much easier.
Anyhow, please share if you agree I dont mind.
We have some real issues here in the US that need attention, I honestly cannot envision Trump doing anything about any of them.
Such as - The number one reason for filing bankruptcy in the US (surprising isn’t because your Casino failed) is because of medical bills.
That’s disgusting in so many ways if also take into consideration that though we pay the MOST in the world for our medical care and pharmaceuticals we are only ranked 37th in the world in terms of quality of care.
We have broken infrastructure -
"Report: Over 65,000 U.S. bridges in need of repair. An Associated Press analysis of 607,380 bridges in the most recent federal National Bridge Inventory showed that 65,605 were classified as "structurally deficient" and 20,808 as "fracture critical."

Thats insane!
But I suppose it
s cheaper for the insurance companies to pay out death benefits and lawsuits when one fails and kills a bunch of innocent people who have a good chunk of their paycheck taken out expecting it to go to fix things like this.
Or how about the drinking water in Flint?
Republican governor appoints emergency managers and circumvents the people elected by the people.
That turned out swell.

What we need is a new
New Deal”...affordable education if not free, affordable healthcare if not free, infrastructure to support our growing population.
Why don’t we have bullet trains? Aren’t we supposed to be the leading nation in the world?
Unfortunately we have the most people locked up in the world.
We have -
Every year in the U.S., an average of more than 100,000 people are shot, according to The Brady Campaign To Prevent Gun Violence. Every day in the U.S., an average of 289 people are shot.

But the statistics vary because the NRA lobbyists have passed laws that actually cut all funding to research gun violence - http://www.latimes.com/business/hiltzik/la-fi-hiltzik-gun-research-funding-20160614-snap-story.html

Trump will do nothing about any of this.
He has no plan, no policies, no clue.
He wants to round up 11 million people and deport them, ban Muslims from the US, and the media just amplifies and revels in his bigotry.

Is he going to reinstate Glass/Stegal and break up the banks before the taxpayers have to bail them out again while they fleece all the profits (lost) to themselves?

And I’m sorry, but the government needs to stop “borrowing” from Social Security...”borrowing” means you intend to pay it back.
We had laws once that said they couldn’t touch that money - Reagan destroyed those laws.
We have seniors who have to short themselves medication or treatment because they haven’t gotten a decent cost of living increase in a very long time.
Trump won’t fix that.

Address Climate Change?
Nope - they can’t get past this insane notion that science is all in some big conspiracy to make our Earth a cleaner and healthier place for our children and grandchildren.

Our vets...he spouts his no-plan nonsense “Oh we’ll take such good care of them.” Or “We’ll do this better or that better because I’m Donald Trump.”
Details then...show us how you are going to help working-class America?
Is he going to fix the gender wage-gap that Republicans can’t even admit exists?
Nope.
Maternity leave?
Nope.
Is he going to shut down the corporate tax-havens and tax the estimated $21 Trillion dollars being kept offshore?
Hahaha...nope.

Sorry...I only see him destroying this country...and Hillary is a corporate shill as far as I’m concerned...but you can see that many of Bernie Sanders platform has been adopted by the Clinton camp because it’s what the people want.
They want their taxes to go to things they feel are important and impact their lives - not tax subsides to huge oil companies that frack our land and ruin our clean water.
So people are being heard to an extent.

Our military spends more money than the next top ten militaries combined.
Again - insane.
And for anyone who doesn’t think I’m just as patriotic as the rest of them - I served my country in the United States Coast Guard, which also happens to be the most difficult branch to be accepted into.
But endless war and tampering with regimes in the middle east has got to stop.
It’s great for people like Boeing...it’s great for folks like Dick Cheney who along with Israel and other investors are illegally drilling for oil in Syria because they can get away with it...the region is nice and destabilized and ripe for picking.
I’ll stop there otherwise I will ramble on forever.

Again...it’s the lesser of two evils....just once it would be nice to have a candidate that the people honestly want as Prez.

At this point, I sort of expect the man to throw a hissy fit and tell the Republican party to find another presidential candidate, because people are criticizing him. He does sorta remind me of a child who gets mad and storms off.

I wouldn't be surprised to learn that he was being paid by the Hillary camp to run and he's now actively trying to sabotage his own campaign.

Oh, what's that? Republicans are fond of accusing Hillary of treason? Let's encourage a foreign power to commit espionage against Americans! That's a great idea! Can we also mock a family that sacrificed a child to save American lives? Sure! Let's also try to somehow blame Obama for it despite the incident occurring years before Obama even became president. That'll work out brilliantly!

Firstly...thank you for your service ;) additionally...please don't say 'sorry'. You need not appologize for taking a stance (and a thorough one too). Yours and the others here have weight to an opinion. This is one of the reasons we put up the fuss of objection within the stronghold of our democracy. Well done.

(thought I smelled a fellow US pirate  lol)

Were you USCG or Navy then?
I was a medic...which beats buoy-tender..haha.

I just believe that something needs to be done on many serious and pressing issues, and our elected officials - “elected”....aren’t responding.
It’s as if they live in a totally disconnected and separate world...which many probably do...and many are probably sociopathic in many ways as this type of profession attracts them like flies.
But where is the people’s recourse to make change?
You can maybe march in protest...and I say maybe because it seems the right to assemble is going bye-bye.
But other than writing letters, e-mails, calling your “representative”.
We are actually very powerless but shown in falsity, and taught in falsity, that our votes count in elections.
Maybe in some local elections they do...where they actually count individual votes and we don’t have some unelected delegate or super-delegate deciding for us.
I think voting should be mandatory...the conservatives need to cut it out with the non sequitur of rampant voter fraud...and call it what it is - the suppression of the minority and poor vote.
Count the votes of the people and see who wins.
Reinstate campaign finance limits and rules and burn Citizen’s United...otherwise, as we can all pretty clearly see now - it’s a conflict of interest between those financing the Congresspersons’ job and life and the will, health and safety of the people they are supposed to serve.
There is very clear evidence that Congress consistently votes for whatever corporate interest wants even if there is a majority of the population against it.
How is that representative of the people?
We didn’t get to choose Hillary and Trump...the delegates did...we all had the illusion that our votes make them sway their vote, but that isn’t human nature...human nature will tell such a person to do what they feel is best for the people irregardless - which makes it flawed and undemocratic.
Look at what untethered gobs of money have done to this bullshit election...it’s sad, but also necessary in many ways to shake the people up...to wake the people up.
Hate Hillary all you want, I think she is far more beholden to the people than Trump ever would be, partially thanks to the Sanders camp but also there are several generations now who have seen the decline of America and are not going to stand for it anymore...the Boomers rode that wave that was the New Deal...the Reaganites dismantling it after it served their needs (example - affordable education - we got ours - I don’t want to pay for yours). Every subsequent generation since them has seen the social safety nets that once was there ripped away...the rights that many in this country fought for and died to obtain - like the eight hour work day (which is almost gone too), many forget the brutality that the workers had to endure and overcome...almost all now have been quietly, slowly, methodically taken away.
When you say the word “union” in the US, it’s very polarizing...but it is the unions and such organizations that have given the people power to effect change when our leaders aren’t listening.
It’s gone too...unions have abused their power, lost the trust of the people, but more so...the law that once gave us the right to protest poor and unfair working conditions was destroyed the night Reagan forced the air traffic controllers back to work in the early 80’s.
The middle class is disappearing...most don’t even have $1000 in savings much less a solvent retirement plan...a good percentage of Boomers have not saved enough to retire, which not only clogs the job market for those graduating college, but it will eventually have to be addressed and quite soon when they no longer can physically work, but have no nest egg...are we going to open mass poor houses?
These are the social issues that the people want and need solved...not abortion or arguing about putting the Ten Commandments on the wall of the Court House...climate change is real...people are dying already from heat waves, starvation, flooding....our polar ice caps are melting...it’s a very poor scenario in the long run.
Why the fight? Even if it’s all bullshit...why the fight against cleaning up our environment and emissions?
Let’s stop burying our heads in the sand, quit kicking the can down the road that is now too hot to stand barefoot on and start working together toward real solutions.
Instead, we have news organizations that are run by those highly invested in the oil and gas industries making it sound like cleaning up our environment is not worth the investment.
Excuse me?
This is also the same guy financing the campaigns...this is the guy who’s vote counts now that money is no object...apparently, money is free speech...uh-huh, and I shit gold...and unlike me or you - this is the guy who’s e-mail gets read by HIS bought and paid for representative.

A great rebuke of Donald Trump by Sam Harris. I think this might be of interest to @JJJA who seems to support Trump despite his dangerous anti-intellectualism:

:rolleyes:Navy at heart...pirate always!...I tried to enlist in the Navy in '88 and they wouldn't have me for medical reasons. Majority of my family is Navy, Air Force & Marines...I come from a family strong in patriotism and not shy of hard work.
It's not my intent to come across as a point-by-point critic of what you say here because I sincerely agree with much of it. It's my goal to keep the dialog going...the more folks that are aware gives energy to what the American Might used to stand for. And how we got the name Big Brother, America the super power, etc.

Our "elected" officials are responsonding to Washington dictates & unseen agenda...meaning they agree to be elected on a local level yet lose their voice once they reach Washington and jump on the money bus forgetting the concerns of the people who sent them down there.
Unfortunately many Politicians are Lying Lawyers & Bullying Businessmen and many truly are Socio-pathetic indeed. "Buy" has a broad ass in Washington & many other locations in this country. The more Lobby Cash they can toss at our electees as they enter the frucus sways many a vote that before that may have gone in the people's favor.
I agree--we should have an old school style vote...there are how many 18+ votes?? Each one should be cast & counted and winner takes the chair.
Maybe if we address the actual processes of Election we can change the system of election and get back on track. Such as Lame Duck...The winning candidate should be put in the hot seat the morning after they win the election. Not in January.

There is no Middle Class anymore only the Haves & Have Nots. With the Haves owning majority of GNP which they outsource to other countries taking jobs from the hands of our own, cry foul that there needs be a creation of jobs..."well hell, keep your Damn business in the US, hire homeland workers and there will be plenty of jobs...what's that? You all want a tax break, horseshit y'all don't want to pay tax at all, greedy-phucks"...
We have to ask WTF is this vicious cycle?? And will it end? Do folks even notice?
I believe most folks follow along hoping it will work out...scared into not making waves. Mainly as a survival tool....well more than one good wave has washed the shitpile away to make room for new growth...
Short of causing a scandal I believe it's time for a well thought & planned mutiny...oh, wait, we already had a Revolution in this country....lol:cool:

I'd rather Trump than Hillary.

Pure insanity. I'd vote for anyone other than Trump. How many ways does this person have to demonstrate that he is unfit to hold the office? Hillary is nothing more than a typical politician to me. She won't be as good as Obama, likely not worse than Dubya. Trump is off the charts, unpredictable, venial, egomaniacal and just plain ignorant. What's worse is that he revels in his ignorance. Has he even read The Constitution? He is a hustler who has in some way burned everyone who has the misfortune of doing business with him and he has suffered multiple business failures. Now he has the audacity to challenge people who have sacrificed and served their country. When is enough, enough??

I'd rather Trump than Hillary. I don't always agree with certain intellectuals, which shouldn't be a shocking factoid.

Maybe it's because you're not as intelligent as Sam Harris is.
